I would take a 7.3 before the other Ford diesels.
There is a good reason why putting a Cummins in a Super Duty has gotten so popular.
You don't have to remove the cab. It just makes it easier to do any kind of serious work on it. I had mine off to do some painting. Read about any engine long enough and you will find problems. Cummings and 7.3s aren't bulletproof.
