The fact that the cab has to be removed says something.
A friend who works at Ford told me that Ford had over $5 billion in warranty claims on the 6.0 and the 6.4.

I would take a 7.3 before the other Ford diesels.
There is a good reason why putting a Cummins in a Super Duty has gotten so popular.

You don't have to remove the cab. It just makes it easier to do any kind of serious work on it. I had mine off to do some painting. Read about any engine long enough and you will find problems. Cummings and 7.3s aren't bulletproof.

oh really...hundreds of thousands of people have complained. put up or **** up. show me the data that can back that up
I'm sure if you read through the Ford truck forums enough you'll find well more than half of the 6.0l owners have had some sort of engine troubles. Ford sells roughly 200k heavy duty trucks per year not counting the E-series vans or Excursions with the majority being diesel powered. The 6.0l ran for approx 5-1/2 years which means well over half a million 6.0l diesels sold. I don't need a data sheet to tell me hundreds of thousands of problems is a good estimate...

How many Cummins and 7.3l diesel engines led to class action suits and the break up of a major auto manufacturer and engine manufacturer contract?

heres a rundown on the 6.0 diesel from a diesel forum...not a ford forum. read for yourself

Ford 6.0 Diesel problems

especially the part about
"The statistics support this. According to the experts at Diesel Tech, this engine rarely experiences major failure when operating at stock power levels. Therefore, there痴 tremendous value here for the consumer who is aware of the common issues and the steps needed to counter them. Let痴 examine the most frequent issues, which should help you decide if this used engine makes sense for your situation."

Ford 6.0 Diesel problems
That is nothing more than one person's opinion. It's a BLOG from a woman in North Carolina and has no stats or actual numbers at all. Also, she tries to put most the problems on modified engines. Everyone I've seen fail was 100% stock and under 100k miles...

Most people like you have probably never driven a 6 leaker. Drive one before you say 7.3s are better. Have fun swapping CPS's all the time and waiting for your PMRs to blow up with the 7.3. Also show me a 7.3 that doesn't have an oil or fuel leak.

my 99 7.3 f450 ( 125k m ) and my 99 7.3 f350 ( 179k m ) do not leak fuel or oil.... the 350 drips a lil trans fluid.. but nothing worth fixing... just a drip.

I dunno.. I have a hard time believing 1 out of 2 are bad.

we have 4 04 250's at work with 6.0's all specc'd the same.. and stock programming. 4wd, auto trans 3.73 rears. the one I drive -HAD- an oil leak at the filter housing using oem filters.. switch to napa solved it. 1-time had a fuel filter leak.. the one on top.. a new oring solved that. other than wear parts.. and some steering components.. nothing else on mine. One of our trucks we did an egr delete on.. mechanic felt it was going to be an issue.. so we did it. the other 2 are straight stock.. fuel up and oil changes...

that's 4 with no blown up engines. ???

we have a f450 service truck with a 7.3psd.. no engine issues at all on it... near 200k m

we just sold a 94 f250 that had the 7.3 ats turbo model... no engine issues... 250k m

Would you believe 1 in 5? That's still hundreds of thousands.

Well that solves it, there are 4 confirmed Ford 6.0's with no engine problems. This means it must be a completely problem-free engine and a bullet proof design. What a mistake Ford made dropping it...

Plus DiamondPilot knows at least a dozen people with problem free 6.0l's and amazingly they have all had problems with a GM/Dodge truck as well.
You guys have proved me and all the broken Ford diesel owners wrong. Call off the class action suit and get Navistar to bring back the 6.0l, the greatest diesel in history!
