Thanks for all the help guys I put the head on and got it purring like a kitten . Hydrolics and 3 point hitch work fine and I drove it around the block . Clutch could be adjusted and the brakes need work . I'm ready to start on all the small stuff now I know t runs good

Hi Terry,
I'm glad to hear you got it running. I'm curious why you needed new valves anyway. In your photo that tractor looks very well kept and I think you got a good deal on it. Do you know you may have a two stage clutch - half way down for changing gears and all the way down for starting and to engage/disengage the PTO? Here's a photo of my Canadian 444/U.S. 354.

That's the same tractor . Fellow in the shop told me the valve stems where worn on a tapper . The 4 valves cost me $340 then $294 for all gaskets and $280 to surface grind head and rebuild it then a boy $120 for all new ignition parts . I'm up about $3500 total now

For quite a few years I had recurring ignition problems with my tractor until I twigged that all the distributor and coil terminals should be liberally coated with di-electric grease. That made it very reliable (knock on wood!).

Just a quick question . What are you using for hydrolic oil I assume it's all together and where do you fill and where do you check level , I have no owners Manuel and the service one does not say

IH typically listed engine parts separately. Get the engine model from the block (probably hand stamped on a flat machined boss on the right side) and look up parts that way.
