Looking Kioti 45 or 55?

NY Kioti- He had at least one each of the DK's on the lot , I am afraid to over size because I want to operate in the woods to rehab old log roads for ATV riding and to pull logs out for firewood. The cab models are nice but wouldn't last in our thick brushywoods.

fastpat- I have only 20-25 open acres and it is hilly as well. The woods will be only accessed as mentioned above.

In the case of 25 open acres, with an occaisional foray into the woods, the DK55 is the smallest I'd consider. It has extra torque over the DK45, with only a small increase in length.

For skidding logs out of my woods, including up to 8 inch diameter trees, I use my Bombardier 800 ATV and a 50 ft. logging chain. Works great and can get into very tight spaces.

In the end I believe it will come down to the gut test. I am yet to sit on the 55 but will certainly do so before decision time. I think the "what if" and "you never know" is pulling me toward the 55 (no pun intended) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Oh man, there is sooo much difference between those tractors, much much more than just a cup holder, but that would be the deciding factor for me! LOL /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If Charlie can convince his wife that he *needs* a 45hp tractor...and if he can keep the tractor and FEL below $20k...then there might be a teeny chance that a 45s is in his future. It would be perfect if it came in HST, but I think I can live with shuttle shift.

O-yes it can be done you will just have to put ummmm.. somewhere around 2 or 3 grand down /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was quoted $23,500 for the combo by one dealer but will travel in the next few weeks to check others pricing for comparison. I was offered the Cub Cadet 8454 which is the pre "S" version for about $2000 less, so you can get close to that magic number /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
