Buying Advice Looking to buy a Mahindra lookin for feedback

The Mahindra 5035 loader and backhoe have significantly more capacity along with moving up to a 4 cylinder vs a 3 cylinder. Since the tires are wider and it doesn't weigh that much more than the 4035, it distributes the weight over a larger area. Mahindra 10 series is a TYM with a non perkins engine, so you probably get better price going straight to the source if your looking at that.

I would echo what others say, try them ALL out and get quotes before you narrow it down to only one brand, but I think your in the 40-50 hp range of tractors.

Mahindras are great what I've seen. I was going to buy either a mahindra max 28 or 3016 but I shopped around and found that I could get a John Deere for the same price and better dealer network.

The funny thing is that my Mahindra dealer wanted more for a 4035 Shuttle than Kubota wanted for a L4600 HST. Needless to say, I didn't visit the Mahindra dealer again. I guess they figured that picture of a Mahindra holding a JD on the front loader and a Kubota on the 3 pt was enough to outsell their competitors.

Judd, the L4600 (without loader) weighs under 3200 lbs. The 4035 HST weighs over 4800 lbs (without loader). That is 50% more, and if you add the loaders the differences increase even more. Other dimensional differences show them to be an entirely different class of tractor. The L4600 is a relatively compact/light tractor with a bunch of HP. For some applications (mowing particularly) that is ideal, for some applications the extra 1600 lbs the Mahindra provides is needed, such as heavy loader work or heavy ground engaging work. So other than being somewhat close in HP, these are really different tractors.

In fact, the 4035 HST outweighs the Kubota MX5200 by over 1000 lbs. Again, weight isn't always an advantage. Race cars look for maximum HP with minimum weight. Generally tractors are wanting more weight, up to a point of course.

What size round bales do you plan on? That will drive the FEL requirement, which will narrow down your machine choices.

I almost didn't reply since I can't really add much more that hasn't been said, but since you're looking for feedback I guess more equals better. I've had my 4035HST for near a year and haven't found anything I needed to do that I couldn't do. I researched my purchase extensively and the Mahindra I ended up with suits my needs ideally. I too had a small leak in the first week, they tended to that and it's been problem free since.

*edit* also is a known issue with some of their models that requires a timing adjustment. After the machine runs for 20 minutes there is a preprogrammed advance on the timing that shuts off, when that happens the machine can sputter a moment and occasionally shut off. Generally it is fine when new and starts to occur after it's been ran 50 or so hours. Models that experience that, are easily fixed in minutes with a minor adjustment. Another noteworthy point, the paint fade hasn't been an issue for several years.

I bought a Mahindra 2615HST w/ loader in 2004. I had it for ten years and sold it with only 466 hrs. I was very pleased with it over the years. The Mitsubishi diesel worked flawlessly for me. Only problems I had was glow plugs had to be replaced twice and glow plug timer once but that was an easy fix and the loader lift capacity was not up to spec. checking the pressures I found it was low. I bought the shim kit and installed shims to bring up pressure to specified amount. I thought it was easy to service. I had an aftermarket cab w/ heater on mine that worked OK. I needed a larger tractor with a cab and looked at several brands. A month ago I bought an LS XR3037HC. Would have stayed with Mahindra 3616HST cab model but they could not match the LS price and options. As mentioned, look at all brands and check with other locals near you for dealer reputation.

I am new here but have browsed a bit on the subject of getting a tractor. My wife and i just bought 5.5 acres and are looking to buy more later so want a tractor that will handle 25 acres of pasture and be able to move round bails from place to place with ease as well as till in order to plant grass and various gardens. Really looking at a Mahindra due to the price and standard features they have that most places make you pay for. But no sold completely and can稚 find anyone who has dealt with cliff jones dealer in Sealy TX. So would love any feedback i can get regardless of you preference

My Mahindra 5525 (55 hp engine, 45 hp pto, 2WD, power steering, partially synchronized tranny 8F/2R, triple rear hydraulic remotes) with the ML250 front end loader (FEL, 6-ft wide bucket, 2950 lb lift to 10.5 ft height, skid steer quick attach (SSQA) option) will handle all your jobs.

The tractor weighs nearly 7000 lb with FEL and water-filled rear tires (for increased traction). The 3-point hitch can lift about 3500 lb at the ends of the lower arms and about 2100 lb for loads 24 inches aft of this point. Cost:$19K.

I bought it to start growing hay on my 10 acre place.

You can get similarly sized tractors with four wheel drive (4WD) and various types of shuttle shift gear transmissions and hydrostatic transmissions at higher prices.

i'm not far from you (Palacios). I have a new max28 XL HST. Smaller than what your looking for. I did talk to the dealer in person that you are referring to , but thats not where I bought my tractor so I cant help you there. Also Mahindra's USA Headquarters is Houston, Texas. A hop skip and jump from you.

Mahindra banks on tractor weight as a selling point to out work the competitors, but tractor weight isn't always an indication of strength.

You need to get into the Kubota 40 series to get comparable machine capabilities. The Mahindra 35 series is a premium tractor, it's its fair to compair similar premium level tractors. The 4035 is unique in size and capability, and I find it more attractive looking than the Kubota. The 5035 is the spec sheet champion, but I drove a L5740 kubota and would love to chain the two tractors together and see who wins the tug of war. I got a price for a 5035 north of $32k with loader...
