Buying Advice Looking to buy a Mahindra lookin for feedback

I almost didn't reply since I can't really add much more that hasn't been said, but since you're looking for feedback I guess more equals better. I've had my 4035HST for near a year and haven't found anything I needed to do that I couldn't do. I researched my purchase extensively and the Mahindra I ended up with suits my needs ideally. I too had a small leak in the first week, they tended to that and it's been problem free since.

*edit* also is a known issue with some of their models that requires a timing adjustment. After the machine runs for 20 minutes there is a preprogrammed advance on the timing that shuts off, when that happens the machine can sputter a moment and occasionally shut off. Generally it is fine when new and starts to occur after it's been ran 50 or so hours. Models that experience that, are easily fixed in minutes with a minor adjustment. Another noteworthy point, the paint fade hasn't been an issue for several years.

Whose models need timing adjustments? the mahindra 4035?
thanks

Some, not all, yes. When researching my purchase I saw where some 4035 owners had an issue with their tractors either miss, smoke a bit, or stuttering few several seconds after running for a while. It would only occur for a moment and straighten up, unless it would die and need restarted; then it would do the same after a while again. The thing in common, the "after a while" is always right on 20 minutes after startup. That is when the preprogrammed timing advance kicks off. Mahindra is aware of the issue and it's a quick and easy fix/adjustment for them. I sorta wish I knew how to do it myself as mine is experiencing this issue. It generally doesn't effect my work, I tend to let it set and warm up at about 1500RPM for about 20 minutes anyway, so I have delayed in tending to it.

Do what Wolftree advises. Sit on numerous different tractors and get a feel for them. Play around on them. Never heard or seen of faded Mahindras in Texas. Only heard of them on the Eastern coast. My 6520 is over 7 years old and is still a bright red.
Good dealers are worth their weight in gold. Get to know the dealer before you buy. Keep asking all kinds of questions to the salesman. Get to know the parts and service staff by first name.

Mahindras are a quality tractor, but count me in the the group that wants to add weight if I need it. I can always add weight but I can not add HP per pound of tractor. Many people like their Mahindras and you should not be disappointed.

you typically ballast articulated row crop tractor up to that lbs\Hp range. Weight is good to a point.. but holy cow!
No doubt it is at the far end of the spectrum. The Mitsubishi built compacts are more of a true compact.

The 35 series are big tractors in disguise....and then we fill the rears with Rim Guard for some folks, adding another 1477 lbs to a 5035 with R4 tires. Because of how heavy they are, the loaders and backhoes are pretty stout. Very much pushing the limit of what can be called a "compact" tractor I think. And such a beast is not for everyone, especially if they are mostly just mowing and doing chores.

There is a place for sure for the high HP lighter Kubota units. It is not fair to Kubota or to Mahindra to compare the L4600 with the 35 series. They both have their place.

I am using a borrowed Mahindra 4110 while one of my tractors is down. Actually I think the tractor is a rebranded TYM from what I am reading online. It is an Ok tractor with good power but light in the rear for serious FEL work. I have ballast attached when using the FEL. It is not as nimble as my B3200 and I miss the HST when using it. FEL has good reach but seems to be a bit lacking on power. I am used to the flat leveling piece on the K and prefer that as to the rod to determine when my bucket is level on the M. The 4WD lever is in a bit of an awkward place and not as easy to go in and out of 4WD as either of my K's. It is comfortable to sit on. Would rather have a tilt seat so moisture doesn't collect and get my butt wet every morning. There is limited view to the rear to see the lift arms when trying to attach a 3 point implement. Actually limited view all around compared to the K. I would prefer the same or more horsepower in a smaller more nimble unit. Have used the machine about 40 hours. Some mowing but mostly FEL work. This unit has a leaking seal on the right rear axle. Only one wheel brake. Ouch! Fairly economical to run. Hydraulics are slow, but good control. It is for sale, but not sure I would buy. I sometimes change attachments several times daily so the limited view to the rear is a drawback for me.

While this machine does have a bottom seat drain the dew that collects on the seat is enough to need a towel to get it some what dry.

I believe that the tractor has a suspension seat. I believe that only the spring seats tilt forward as you like. I have never seen a suspension seat that also tilted forward as most of the spring seats do.

If it is just the dew that is the problem, just leave a towel on the seat and then pull it off when you go to use the machine.;)
