Looking to buy new trade old

I recently acquired my 90 year old father's Kabota L235 tractor. It's has a bucket and a box blade. The tractor has been well maintained and always garaged. It has 802 hours on it. I'll be looking for a similar sized tractor but with a cab for snow removal. So that brings up a few questions.
1. What is a compatible tractor model?
2. What's my tractor worth?
3. Sell outright, someone would be getting a great tractor, or trade?

My dad told me at the last service appointment they offered him what he paid for it towards a new one
Whereabouts are you located?

1) B series or small LX series
2) depends on your local area and what is available/who is looking.
3) private sale will usually bring more cash.
Trade may save you some on sales tax depending on what state your in.

We have a open station Kubota B2601 HST trans
Works great for clearing snow, coveralls if it snowing.

At our other property, we have a cab model with HVAC, that is very nice for winter snow pushing.

I would recommend that you decide how you want to use a tractor. Then decide if what you have fits those needs

The new Kubota LX 2620 cab model is similar size, and many nice features, look at that for a starting point.

Make sure to get a SSQA loader so you can easily swap front attachments. Pallet forks are my most used attachment

Snow pusher and medium size bucket are next.

Below are our 2 snow pushers

The Kubota B2601 is a bit light and needs more weight if the snow is heavy.

Both tractors have beet juice filled tires for ballast.

The condition of your father's Kubota is impeccable, and the hours are so low. It may be worth selling private sale, just because depending on your location this could be a $6-7k tractor. Here in Maine it would sell for that, easily enough.
I’d agree with that in fact 8K would not be out of line anything in that condition with a loader would bring that much

That's about what it would bring here in Colorado, and quickly. Those older low hour tractors are good sellers. It could bring a little more.

As a comparison, 1984 L235. 4x4, loader, as good condition, $3000, about same hours

Around here it would be listed for about $5,000 with the loader

It would be harder to sell that one around here because of the rust. In our climate old machinery doesn't rust, just fades. Used buyers are used to faded paint, but are not so much with rust from coastal salt & humidity. They tend to run away from rust.

The OP's machine still has original paint...and even a rude shed keeps the sun off. Here, those things make a big difference in selling price.

Rust might not make a difference in how it works, but nobody knows. Prospective buyers wouldn't know either.

I have a 2022 Kubota MX5400 with cab and FEL that I would be interested in trading. Very low hours, my reason for trading to a smaller open tractor is that the MX is right "in the middle" a little too big for general landscaping around the house area but too small to do hay work in our fields. Depends on where you are located and if you are interested in this model and size. Let me know

The photos you posted in your first post indicate that you live where there's at least some "big trees" that you'll be working in or around. If so, do you really want a cab with "big glass doors" ??? Those glass panels are easy to crack/break and they are COSTLY to replace. So, depending on how you intend to use the tractor when not plowing/moving snow might dictate that you not have a permanent cab. I've got a $500 canvas cab for my tractor, it isn't fancy, but is warm, comfortable and makes snowblowing much easier while at the same time, allows me to remove the cab (about 20 minutes) during the summer, and have an open station for summer work without the risk of all that glass breaking.

If there's nothing wrong with your Kubota and it otherwise meets your needs, have you considered an aftermarket canvas cab and a new seat (thanks to that raccoon)... Might save you a bucketload of money both is monthly payments and in glass replacement costs.
