I am looking to buy a new tractor. I will be using it around the yard, but mostly for blowing snow from the driveway. I live in Northern Michigan where we get plenty of snow. My drive way is about 125yds long. Plus I have a few attachements for an old ford that I have. A box blade, back blade, post hole digger, and brush hog (not sure on the size) that I would like to use. I would consider a MMM but I am not sure it is necessary. I would probably also want to put a cab on it. I have checked a little and if price wasn't an issue I would probably get the B3030 with the cab. I am starting to think that it's out of my range so I have been looking at the B7610. Would that be enough tractor? Is there a better option out there like possible a NH?

Any input or advice for a new buyer would be appreciated.

Welcome to TBN. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
A lot would depend on size of your Bush Hog. A 7610 can handle a 4' Bush Hog. For implements that your Ford handled, have you considered the B7800. It's the same size as the B3030. It has similar features as the B7610.

The New Holland tractors will likely cost a bit more than a similar size Kubota, they will offer greater capacities but you will probably pay for them. As for the cab, I know NH offers a soft cab as an option, it is not going to provide the comfort of an Air Conditioned hard cab in the summer, and will not be as warm as a heated hard cab in the winter, but it will protect you from flying snow and biting wind. I don't know if Kubota offers a cab on the B7610, but I beleive they may offer it on the B2630.

What is the major difference between the 7800 and the 3030?

I have looked at the Curtis cabs as an option. They seem to be the only ones I can find. Is that the case or are there other repitable brands?

The 7800 is a "basic" tractor, the 3030 is a "deluxe" version. They share the same engine. The 3030 has an upgraded FEL, suspension seat, standard mid-PTO, extendable lower links, position control on the 3pt instead of Quarter-Inch-Valving, the 3030 also has a ratchet style lift rod instead of the turnbuckle.

One thing to consider with the factory cab is that there are upgrades on things like the alternator to power the AC unit, windshield wipers & lots of extra lighting if you add an aftermarket cab then you would have to upgrade other systems that are included in the factory cab upgrade.

Thanks for the input.

Hate to ask this, because it is probably a dumb question... I read a lot about Cut and Sub Cut, can anyone explain what the difference is?

CUT = Compact Utility Tractor
SUB CUT = Sub-Compact Utility Tractor

A Sub-CUT is generally characterized by lower ground clearance, often equipped with a belly mower and turf tires. A typical small CUT is going to have 10" to 12" of ground clearance. A typical Sub-CUT will have about 6" to 8" of ground clearance. A typical Sub-CUT will weigh 500# less than a small CUT, and perhaps as much as 1000# less than a heavy small frame CUT. Typical Sub-CUTs will have lower pump capacities, lower FEL capacities, they also may have a limited Cat 1 3pt hitch which is slightly smaller than a standard Cat 1 3pt (but they may have a standard Cat 1 3pt).

Thanks, that's good to know.

Any thoughts on snowblowers? Do they make one with a power chute or are they all manual operated?
