I think you got a good deal. I bought a used PL60 Woods last year for $1000. Enjoy your new attachment.
I think so too. I had right at 1000 in it with travel, gas, food, hotel, etc. They don't pop up used around here. New is 2x+. It pokes holes in the ground, so awesome!

Did you add weight on it? Mine works ok, but seems like it could use another 200 to 400 pounds.

Judge the cores, ideally you want at least a 2 inch core closer to 3 is better. It really depends on yourcsoil type. We have red clay so hard that I run 600lbs on my pl72 and only get 1 1/2-2" plugs.

I filled some plastic 5gal buckets with "crush and run" for extra weight. I would guess each bucket weighed about 80lbs and I placed 8 buckets on the aerator. I would estimate,at least, 600 lbs total extra weight. Depending on your local soil conditions and moisture content, you can expect plugs in the 2-4 inch range. Try to avoid turning while the aerator is engaged and lower the aerator to the ground easy. The spoons are very hard steel. The spoons break rather than bend and cost about $10 a piece.

We have heavy clay and find it's best to aerate a couple days after an inch of rain.
