Lost float position on front bucket

Still haven't had the time to look into this but all the talk of balls falling out and losing them is a little scary. Not so much the losing part, but getting them back where they belong. I was really hoping it was just an adjustment because if I push the lever forward just a bit farther then the detent locks the lever, the float works.
Thank you all for the replies!!

If yours does have the external cap for the detent, the cap usually has 2 small hexhead caps, one on each side that allow you to take the spring and ball out individually before you remove the main cap. I've had to replace the balls and springs in mine a couple times as they wear out pretty easily. The ball will get smaller in diameter and/or the spring will lose tension and it will allow the spool to not index properly for full float position. The first time I replaced the balls & springs I greased them good so they wouldn't rot again but the grease made them too slippery to hold the spool in position, I had to clean it out and leave it dry in order for it to hold the spool fully in the detent. Will just have to keep replacing balls as they wear-out. At least I have several hundred of them - should last me as long as I'll be using the tractor !! If yours is like mine, you will see how simple it is once you get it apart.
