The only thing I would add is learn what the job is they expect you to do. If it's production work,don't spend custom work time. You have to adapt to what they need. Your there to do it their way, and you may feel you should go the extra mile, but understanding what they want/expect is critical.
You wouldnt want a fry cook spending steakhouse effort on each burger anymore than you want a $50 steak warmed up under a heat lamp.
I once got a man a job as a track hoe operator and he got fired over arguing with the boss about whether to grease the hoe every day or every other day. While at work, you do it the bosses way, even if you disagree. Sure, you might mention that you think you should do a everything on your check list, but if they tell you to just get it out the door; get it out the door.
