Does any of the above mean anything. Probably not but you look at Kubota compared to New Holland and John Deere. Kubota pretty much triples what John Deere and New Holland does. Yeah maybe just Kubota people are dedicated to TBN but maybe not. When I was doing my research I was found Kubota was the most popular but not in my area. In fact the closes Kubota dealer was over an hour away. Again area has a lot to do with it.

Your right Murph. In my area, we pretty much see Kubota and JD almost exclusively with a sporatic sighting of NH and never ever have I seen a Massey compact. Recently, a new NH dealer moved in across the highway from my Kubota/JD dealer. It's called Beeler Tractor. It may very well change the landscape with more blue tractors. I welcome the competition although I don't know if my local Kubota/JD is thinking that way. Rat.

P.S. Tractors like Branson/Century dealers are popping up at the old gas stations. It gives it that used car dealer flavor.

This site originally was mostly kubota for awhile. That's why you see more kubota posts than anything else.

I guess I need to amend my previous post. I was talking all tractors. There's not but maybe a handful of CUTs in my area.

RaT, we must be neighbors. I can tell by the reference to Beeler Tractor and the Branson service station. It is great to have all these dealers but it sure makes the decision difficult. Today, I took a 3 hour drive to visit Dave's Tractors in Red Bluff. Dave knows how to treat a customer. He spent about 2 hours with me letting me drive anything I wanted and explaining in detail the adv/disadv of each make. He even let met loose with a backhoe in his orchard. At least he said it was his. He did not say anything bad about other brands but kept it positive. Dave even suggested contacting closer dealers with the same product. I have not made any final decision but if all dealers could be like Dave, the decision would be impossible. Win, loose or draw, Dave is a guy I will recomend to others.

Hi Richard. I have yet to stop in Daves Tractors off Blackberry Ave and yet drive by almost every week. I've been working up in Palo Cedro, East of Redding. I live in Newcastle, not far from Rattlesnake Bar. I use Highway 193 to Oroville/Chico/Red Bluff. I have 2 labs, a Yellow and a Chocolate. Lost my best buddy, a Yellow August 4th, 2001 to a car. Still can't say I'm over it. I'll have to stop in at Daves one of these times. I've conversed with him here at TBN. Mark

Could be that 10 years ago a local cracker jack salesman got a new job at the blue store /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

RaT,
Definitly stop by and see Dave. If he was in Auburn, it would make my choice a lot easier. I know what you mean about losing your best friend. I love our two current labs but it still brings tears to my eyes when I think about our prior lab. The hardest thing I ever did was have her put down.

What tractor do you have. I have narrowed my final choice to Mahindra and Kioti. Leaning toward the Kioti, but thanks to Dave, the Mahinda is playing with my mind.

( I don't mean to stir up ownership wars, but as I eagerly scan the dealers and sales within 100 miles of home,( NE MD.) I must say I am seeing more late model blue tractors than green ones....I am not 100% set on a specific color yet, feel for my limited needs and operation either one will serve me well for years to come with decent service and some TLC /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif...

There are many green ones on the market, but most are 10 or more years old with thousands of hours.

Am I the only soon to be owner noticing this? Is this a regional thing? Do folks really trade in and out of tractors as some do with cars?

as the kids say'whassup widat...?"

I finally figured out this post (I think)

The premise taken is that there are not many late model low hours Deere's, because people aren't buying them and trading them in every two years. There are lots of NH, because folks like them so much, they keep trading them in. So NH = Good and Green = Bad.

but the initial premise is wrong

People don't trade tractors like cars. So lots of late model low hours tractors could mean they are bad. But that isn't truly the case because both NH and Deere are fine.

Despite rumors to the contrary in the Northeast.

I agree... We've had a green since '87. I've thought about buying a new tractor but I'd have to keep our current one too. Still runs just as well as the first day. I'm sure there are others on here with a blue/red/orange/purple with a similar story. Tractors are not really dependent on fashion or trends. It's a tool, a really big tool, but it serves a purpose moreso than a status symbol.
