Low hour used tractors

Something else to consider is that it may have sat in a shop dealership waiting for parts. May be why it is so low in usage.. worth checking out either way. tractors are pretty simple machines and pretty easy to spot issues if you have been around them.

Just a data point

I recently purchased a B2601 with 800 hrs on the clock. Private sale.

The seller was/is a likeable and helpful fellow with other tractors and alternate needs (land purchase)

The machine had documented service history, and showed no signs of abuse.

It has been perfectly fine while in my hands.

What’s the alternative? Buying a high hour used unit and hoping for better results? I suppose buying new, is probably a valid option. When we bought, used units were as mush as new, and most were not stored well, or looked awful abused for the few hours they had. So a new unit made sense. After three years, it looks showroom new, because it’s never been outdoors, except when in use, and is regularly cleaned.

I bought a 2012 Branson 3520r with 3000 hours on it. It came with a freshly rebuilt diesel motor. i have put 160 hours on it since. love it and love the deal that i got on it.I looked at brand new 25 hp tractors that were twice as much. rolled the dice and have been very happy with it. I replaced the starter on it.. but if i am going to have something wrong with anything on wheels i own it will be the starter.

I have a 2005 JD 4110 ("MCUT", 20hp). I purchased it new. It currently has about 350 hours on it. Always kept indoors. It has a 60" MMM, but I have only used the tractor for mowing maybe 100 hours, probably less. My 5.5 acres was already cleared when I bought the property (neighbors referred to it as "the park"). The majority of usage has been FEL work (bucket/forks/grapple) to move "stuff" around, gather up downed trees/branches, and spread a few loads of dirt. Those tasks may come up less than once per year, but when they do, the tractor proves invaluable. So yeah, very low hours on a 20 year old tractor are possible, especially if not used regularly for mowing.

I'm seriously considering replacing the tractor with a Kioti CX2510 with cab, mainly for creature comforts. The 4110 seemed a lot more comfortable 20 years ago when I was only 50 years old.
