Hi All, while folks are encountering snow in N/hemisphere down here we have been racing about cutting last of our pasture in damper hollows for very last hay. i was happily racing around with slasher on back of 3120 when plop - tractor stopped dead.
no warning, just instant engine stop. tried starting in various modes just dead.
i looked about machine couldn't see anything obvious, so rang local dealer. luckily got a mechanic just b4 he was off to lunch - he had a look about, then got right under the machine & found a stick had been flung up from being hidden in the pasture, flicked thru a low point in the seat iscolation cable where it came under the back axle & hooked on other tyre, so stick was like a bar between 2 back tryes, it only got 1/4 of tyre turn when it stretched the wire/cable soooooo much it pulled cable clip off the back of the ignition switch!!! mechanic said it looked like it hadn't been properly installed, as when reconnected there was still a fairly deep loop, so he put 2 extra cable ties on.
i suggest 3000 series owners have a look under the back axle & just check that this cable/wire isn't hanging down.......i'm surprised i didn't hook it up sometime else over last 3 years.
anyway show how quick machine would stop if i'd been thrown off
cheers Oz GH.
