I don't know if there is any way to tell if the arms are the new ones except the serial number of your tractor. I do know a lot of people must be replacing their lift arms because they are out of stock and I'm still waiting./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif I'm going to check with my dealer this week to see if he has heard anything. Personally, I think you should check with your dealer if you have any idea that your arms might be the softer ones. Also, both of the arms are the same, the adjustable link ends are installed differently to make the lift arms "left" or "right" side units. You need to be able to drive out a hefty roll-pin to disassemble the end pieces. If you don't feel comfortable with this, I'd remove the complete arms and take them to your dealer to get the job done. You don't have to take your tractor in. ...just my suggestions.
