Lowery Mfg (LMC) Rotary Cutters?

I'm still looking at getting a rotary cutter. I've looked at the $1000 models and then at Woods, Bush Hog, Land Pride & Brown. Its easy to see why they are more expensive - more steel, heavier steel, better welds etc, etc, etc. I'm impressed with the Brown 416 and trying to find a local dealership. So far - no joy.

I'd like to say that any cutter I end up with will have an easy life but in all reality that just won't be the case. Too much hidden stuff and the need to mow down brush and saplings.

Sounds like you made a good deal on the finish mower. Now go easy & be safe.

Trying to find a manual or gearbox info for a poster on here, so looked around on the Lowery website. One place they clearly save some $ is in creating and publishing user documentation/manuals! He has a "Clipper 400" with (evidently) a gearbox made by "Cheetah". Not a shred of info about either on the website.

Here's a start:

Go to: howseimplement.com/gearbox-100hp-7-8-cutter-cheetah-pg-167.html

Thanks! Funny how both LMC and Howse each have a "model 400" with a "Cheetah" gearbox. At least Howse has the full cutter manual available for download, which should include the info the other poster needed.

I have an old Andy 500 that I have used and abused. The nut for the stump jumper/blades has lost the cotter pin twice and everything dropped out the bottom while mowing. New nut and pin put it right back in business. I've cut 3" privet and 4" pines with it if my tractor would ride them down. My Yanmar YM3000 handles it just fine. Next weekend I'll be buying a Kubota L3430HSTC and will buy a new 5' Lowery cutter to go behind it. I think I'll get the square 'Standard' model.
