I have a Chase Visa card, and todays mail delivered a pair of coupons good at Lowes...IF I use my card there. One coupon is good for a discount of $10 on a $50 purchase, the second is good for $25 off a $250 purchase. If you read the fine print on the back, it states "limit one Project Starter Card (coupon) per household, not valid with any other coupon or discount".

WOW. What a fricking deal...I can't use either coupon on a sale item, some savings. It has reached the point today where I almost never bother to even look at coupons, the savings are so minimal and there are so many disclaimers in the fine print it's a waste of time to even try to use one. ESPECIALLY AT LOWES, where they have the lowest grade of service.

I got similar cards from Discover but they didn't have all the restrictions you mentioned.....nanner nanner boo booo:laughing:

I think sale items might be ok. Most coupons worded like that will still give the discount on a sale item as long as it rings up as the sale price when they scan the item. you new coupon discount will be deducted from the sale price. If they have to give you a special discount with another coupon, or some other group discount they might offer, then your new coupon can not be used. In other words, a sale price is not considered a discount, but their current price available to anyone. I would try it, you might be surprised.

Agreed. I received a similar coupon and bought stuff that was "on sale" with no issues whatsoever.

I didn't know anyone ever read the fine print.

When you are retired and on a fixed income, it usually pays to read the fine print.

It would make little sense to me to burn $10 worth of fuel to get to Lowes and back, only to learn my "$10 off a $50 purchase" coupon wasn't applicable. Which is probably why I will never even use their coupons.

Currently I have $120 in Cabela's points for using my Cabela's card.

Had a $50 off coupon in the mail the other day, so I figured I could use my points and knock $170 off a decent scope I've been looking for.

So, I see which one at Cabela's I want to buy, then check over at a couple of online places I usually order shooting accessories from.

Wouldn't you know it, Cabela's was around $150 higher than some of the other places. Cabela's use to be the place for deals, but I do like how they make you feel important by send you a bunch of stuff (should I really feel that important that I get a master catalog every year? LOL).

Perhaps I'm in the wrong pew for this thread, but I'm hoping I'm in the right church:D

I was in Lowes the other day and told the carpet guy that I was moving closer (true) and forgot to pick up a 10% off coupon at the post office(change of address packet). He called his manager and I ended up saving $260. Not bad!

Doesn't sound bad to me you got 10 bucks for free if you spent 50 dollars, that's 20% and 10% off a 250. purchase. Of course they are only good if you need something. I'm pretty sure those coupons would be good for anything in the store.

Lowe's and Home Depot have been very stingy with the coupons lately.
I even called their corporate offices to ask for a 10% coupon and they said no!
I've been getting Lowe's 10% off coupons up to 2500. at the post office, in the change of address pack. But they are getting wise to it, they will only give you 2 or 3 at a time now. I was getting 6 before. They also work at home depot.

Any time I'm going to make a significant purchase at Lowes, I go get the change of address packet at the post office. 10% off no questions asked. Worth the trouble; to a cheapscape like me anyway.

Right pew and church, IMO. Lowes is so overpriced to begin with their measly 10% off a $250 purchase is an insult. They would have to give me an offer of 20-25% off to get my business.

I'm not a big fan of Lowes, but where are you gonna go? Home Depot.

I like HD more, but prices are pretty close. I'm in one or the other a couple times a week.

We bought a fridge there that was on Clearance price - Then they had a % off for the brand being on sale - Then on top of that we got 10% military discount - You can't beat it !

MENARDS gets 95% of my big box, home center business. Lowes and HD share the remaininG 5%.

Lowe's and Home Depot still give a flat over the counter 10% discount with a military ID, mine is a Veteran's Access card on any item however I think there is a ceiling of maybe five grand or so-I'll never challenge that!

I was standing in the checkout line at Lowes last year and someone handed me a 10% coupon. I don't remember why exactly he didn't use it himself but I was buying bathroom fixtures and tiles and was very glad he made the offer.

We don't have a Menards, I've only heard about it here on TBN.
It's Blow's or Home Cheapo take your pick. They put all the smaller places out of business.
