Im in the process of buying a r4047 and need a root grapple for it. Is there a root grapple everyone recommends for this tractor? Also what all will I need to run it off my rear hydraulics?
A 48" to 72" light duty grapple is all you need. A heavy duty grapple will kill your lift capacity and will be overkill. I've got a NAI 60" light duty and it seems to be a good balance for the tractor. There are plenty of grapple threads here that discuss various designs and features available.HTML:
I also ran my hydraulics from the rear. Used 8 foot hoses from rear to the loader arms and 5 foot from there to the front. Bought some self tapping dual hose clamps for the loader arms and zip tied the rest as well as some protective wrap on the 8 foot hoses since they are under the tractor and exposed on the back around all the moving 3pt stuff.
Very good info, thank-you very much. I was wondering how much hydraulic hose it takes to get to the front. So 8' & 5' are the right lengths if you put quick connects near the loader quick connects?
That's what worked for me. I put quick connects in the middle for loader removal as well. I also crossed over and ran the lines down the "drivers side" loader arm because there was more room.
What I did to get the lengths right for the loader arms, was run an old garden hose along the route, mark it, and take it out and measure it. You can be sure to get what you want that way. You can buy hoses in 1 foot increments from surplus center.
