JD 2240 MFWA (SOLD); Kioti RX7320
I'm looking at new tractors and these are the two that the list has been whittled down to. I'm looking at something with a cab and power shuttle (reverser), and both of these fit that bill. From what i can tell, these tractors are very close in terms of capabilities, weight (the LS is about 500 lbs heavier), dimensions, very similarly equipped (although I believe the LS does have a 3rd function on the FEL). They are pretty close in terms of cost, although it appears that the Kioti is cheaper by a few K. Kioti also has much better flow through its hydraulic pump...19.23 gpm vs 13.2. Nearly 50% better flow. The LS comes in quite a bit higher in price @ $47k than what the Kioti is quoted at...$43k. Anybody out there have any real world experience with these two tractors? Do you have any reason to choose one tractor over the other with all other factors being equal?

Yeah, thanks, I corrected the title.

A quick national search on TractorHouse shows both models within a few hundred dollars. Did you get formal quotes from local dealers?

Yeah, I sure did. 47k was what I was quoted. I looked on tractorhouse too. Seems like my local dealer either doesn't have much buying power, or is making a bit more than everyone else! I just bought a used tractor from him last year too...

I guarantee you that the 19.23 gpm is a combined total, power steering and implement pump. The LS is 19.8 GPM combined total.

The LS has a 20x20 for gears and the Kioti has a 12x12 trans.

The LS lifts more at both the 3pt and loader.

The Kioti is less $$$ because it has lesser capabilities.

Now in the real world, do the differences actually matter that much? It depends on if you use your equipment to the maximum capabilities or not. For a lot of people it would make zero difference, to some, the Kioti may not work well for them.

All things that should be considered IMO.

Just my :2cents:, good luck with your decision. ;)

Yeah, i do see that the LS has better lifting on the 3 pt and loader...but only by less than a couple hundred lbs. For the sake of the discussion, I figure that is within the margin of error.

The 3pt lift is over a 1000lbs difference. The LS is rated at over 6600lb at the eyes, deduct 25% (typically is only about 20%) and you have about 5000lbs at 24" back. The Kioti is 3898lb @ 24" back. That is about a 25% difference, which is a lot in my line of thinking.

If you are going to "work" the tractor, the 20x20 trans would be much better than the 12x12 trans. I can tell you from personal experience that a 12x12 tranny is lacking in this size machine.

I could see the 20 speed tranny being useful. Make it easier to find the right gear for the conditions.
I found 4,079 lb as the number listed for the 3 pt on the LS.

I know for myself, I wish that I had a 16x16 trans at a minimum. When I disk, there are times where I simply DO NOT have the right gear. One gear the tractor pulls very easy, but to slow and the next gear up it lugs the engine to much and simply will not pull properly. And that is splitting gear ranges etc. The gear ratio needed simply IS NOT THERE. :(

This is what I see listed under specifications.

Hydraulic System
Hitch lift capacity, lbs: 6,614

Where are you seeing the 4,079 number?
