I used Rotella T5 (Walmart) 15W-40 as that matched specs in manual for my climate best. Used Kubota Super UDT2 (local Kub dealer) hydraulic oil. I think it was ~$21/gal. Bought a 5 gal pail plus a single gal due to manual saying it holds 5.3 but every last drop doesn't drain out so 5 gal was more than enough. Bought filters from Messick's. Shopped around and found a few alternate p/n Wix filters from other places, but ultimately just buying all from Messick's, 1 shipping charge, no sales tax was best cost and most convenient. Plus all OEM (even if NH, MF p/n) filters. On the Kubota Hyd fluid - I used based on recommendations here on that being a great fluid. If it performs any better than TSC premium universal no idea. I did notice a slight, but perceptible, reduction in "HST whine" after that switch. Nothing drastic. No other noticeable difference in performance from the OEM fluid it came with.
The HST filter under the seat (higher of the 2) was a real PIA to get at to remove/replace. Everything else for changing out 5 filters, engine oil,& hyd fluid was pretty simple.
I might just not have found them yet, but only places I see zerks for greasing are all on the loader & bucket. Otherwise just dabs of grease various spots on 3pt. I used the TSC Traveller premium heavy duty grease for everything. Don't know much about grease or if some brand is vastly superior to another. Manual just says NLGI #2 which is darn near any tube you pick up other than the cheapest "multipurpose" you can find...
Check the front axle oil with the machine cold and parked for a good while. I thought mine had a bad leak since I would check, there was just barely a drop at bottom of dipstick, so I'd fill. Scared me because I'd do this, it would take nearly a full bottle (quart), then it would leak all over the place when parked. Problem was, I was checking after using/moving the machine which will read low. However, I still can't fill to "full" reading on dipstick hash marks - any more than appx "half full" reading will leak. But it maintains at half full reading without losing a drop. Learned hard way to have it already parked on level surface and sitting for a good while before checking to get an accurate reading there (noob problem). Otherwise mistakenly overfilling.
Recall for dipstick? There's a factory fix for that? Please share info on new p/n or how to get replacement. I did like many others and just used a real short bungee on oil dipstick to keep tension on it and that keeps it seated.
