Guys,

I have narrowed my new tractor purchase down to these two models.

My dealer has a P7010C on the lot and has sold 5 of them in 4 weeks. He has only picked up one XU5065CPS and it sold the same day it was put out. Most of his sales volume is <40HP and >70HP so he doesn't stock many in that class. With this being said, he has a XU5065CPS coming on the next shipment with R1's for me to demo.

P7010C - $39.9K
XU5065CPS - $37.5K

Both have FEL w/ skid steer attach, R1 tires, P7010C has 3 remotes, XU5065CPS, 2 remotes, both have front and rear wiper/washer, lights everywhere, push button diff lock, 4wd, ect...

The P7010C is shuttle shift, the XU5065CPS is hydraulic power shuttle (I LIKE!).

Both tractors will fit my needs. Both are Tier 4, which is not an issue with me.

These are both fully loaded tractors, I feel the prices are very fair. BUT, I'm just checking the barometer of TBN land.

Thanks,
CT

Local LS dealer advertises them at $38.9k and $36.5k, respectively, so you should have some more wiggle room to ask for better pricing or freebies like implements, included services, etc. assuming you've got your own financing or paying cash. Either way, congrats on narrowing down your next tractor to just 2!

Agonized over the decision for 6+ months and just ordered Friday after passing on some excellent deals on out-of-state NX/RX-series Kioti's. My XU5065CPS (R4s) pricing was also better than above because I ordered the LS backhoe and had my own financing in place from a credit union (@ 2.95%).

Reasons for passing on the P series are size (too big for my needs, incl. the extra weight & width that limit tow-ability and would tear up yard), no backhoe option, and no power shuttle on P7010C without stepping up to the larger HP/higher priced P-series options. Otherwise it is a LOT of tractor for the money and the selectable PTO speeds, extra HP & lifter capacity would be nice. A dealer in NC has a used one listed on Craigslist (300-ish hours) for the mid-$20s if you don't mind paying shipping (see LS forum for thread/link). Best wishes!

I have the P7030CPS, which is the 88 hp version with power shuttle. The power shuttle is the reason I stepped up to the next larger size, getting that feature alone was worth the premium. (That and the electronic hi/lo on the shifter, selectable PTO speeds etc) Oh and you can get a Buddy seat for the P series, if you have grand kids it may be important!

I didn't think any of the P series were actually tier 4, I was told all were imported prior to the regulations becoming effective. You may want to check that again to be sure, if it matters to you.

The price will get closer when you add in that third remote, so I wouldn't let the price alone deter you, but I wouldn't own a regular shuttle again after having a power shuttle. I was also told no P7030's are available from the factory so if you wanted a power shuttle in the P series you would have to step up to the P7040.

BlessedMess makes a good point about the backhoe also, if one of those is on your short list the P series is not for you.

If I were in the same position and didn't need the extra HP, front or rear lifting capabilities, electronic hi/lo, 40f/20r speeds and the 540/750/1000 PTO I would get the XU5065CPS and add the third remote. Especially if you were even thinking about the back hoe.

I think there is a little wiggle room there also and would go into the dealer and offer 37k for the XU with the third remote and the first 50 hour service.

Good luck and keep us posted!

BlessedMess,

I have antagonized over tractors for several years. But having an old tractor still going, I just lusted for one. Now that I have had another mechanical failure (head gasket/head) I am going new. I will eventually go through the IH/Farmall 504 and rebuild engine, hydraulics, ect... Future project.

I appriciate the pricing. "Roll Tide" tells me you are in AL. I want/need R1's, I'm afraid that I would be disappointed with R4's in the winter and spring on my place. I don't need a backhoe because we have a Komatsu PC-38UU excavator we use for general farm digging.

Deerherd,

The P7030 and P7040 are more than I need. For brute horsepower and draft work I have an old Allis Chalmer 180 with a 301 ci 6 cyl diesel that has the fuel screw turned in! This purchase is for my go-to everyday tractor. I have used large JD's with power shuttle and it is sweet! The XU5065CPS seems strong enough on 3 point, loader, and PTO to do almost any task I can imagine. The R1's should keep me out of trouble!

I will mention to my dealer about the pricing. My prices were cash price as of last week. He is very competitive and will probably work with me.

CT,
I just went over to my dealer to pick up some things and he had one like you are looking at with R1's on his lot. First time I was in one, nice tractor. It is quite a bit smaller than the P series, though. Good if you want to tow it around, but the wheels were set to their narrowest. I snapped a couple of photos of it for you. That P7010 is a lot of tractor for the money......

Its beautiful! I did not realize that it had a chrome grill... That's different!

It is smaller than the P7010. But it is larger than I expected. The only cabbed LS models that I saw first hand was the P7010 parked next to a XR4046. Looks like the XU5065 falls right in between them! The LS tractors have larger front R1's than most other brands in this class. Did I mention thats a good looking tractor!

I think the 5065 will fit my needs well. The P7010 would be useful for some applications, but I would not want to tow it offen! 9500 lb with loader and bucket without ballast... My GN trailer is a 8'x20' deckover, no dovetail, 2-6k axles. I don't really want to buy another trailer.

FYI: Ballast
XU5065CPS 16.9x24, 75% fill H2O, 61 gallons/ea, #509/ea, #1018 loaded.
P7010C 16.9x30, 75% fill H2O, 73 gallons/ea, #609/ea, #1218 loaded.

We can use plain water or add a couple gallons antifreeze per tire with our climate. Add more weight for CaCl2 depending on %

Enjoy!

Thats 5k less than I was quoted!

Is that price for a P7010C or for a P7010C with a loader?

Is it a 2013 or 2014?

I have not seen one without loader. I did not check year, with that price I don't think it matters! He had to order one and split a load to get it. Then found out the buyer of one on the lot did not show up so I could have either, he had it on lot for less then a week, but did not have the double spike and had to order it. Also he thought he had ordered the spike but had only checked the price not ordered. That is what we are waiting on so he can deliver tractor, the spike and fluid in tire for $34900. I am well pleased with him but I don't think he will go that low again, his first and supposedly only price was $35900 but had some issues ordering it so he knocked another grand off for aggravation. The issues was I wanted R4's and that is what he ordered but turns out it is not in option, his supplier had been trying to tell him but was calling cell and it don't work in building so when he called to check on delivery status he had to OK the order which delayed another week then the spike deal happened at same time. When it is over if he don't care I will let you know the dealer.

varmint x and company...

I have called around. Seems that there is a good spread on pricing.
I have been quoted 33,995-37,500 on a XU5065CPS.
I have been quoted 36,995-39,900 on a P7010C.

I have another couple of dealers to call to round out the mean average. So far all the dealers in two states, all get the their tractors from the same distribution center. Makes me wonder if all dealers pay the same price or if they get different price breaks depending on volume and other factors.
