Price Check LS XU5065CPS and LS P7010C

Not throwing stones here (good math), but do you think MSRP is higher than $37.5k? If MSRP is $41,999+ for the tractor and FEL, a 25% margin would put cost right around $31,500. Even if the dealer only clears $300 on tractor after delivery with full tank, it may have earned him some extra bonus $$ from LS and the finance company. If there is no risk of inventory or floor plan costs, some dealers just like to win on volume even if they barely make anything. Not saying you are wrong, but that's been my experience on autos, boats, motorcycles, furniture & electronics. I've learned a lot from this forum, and this may be one area where tractor sales are just different and I need to shut up and read :)

BTW, we just need to get our tractors delivered already so we can play with them instead of all these numbers! Hoping to take a week off after delivery (weather permitting) so I can expedite my learning curve on the tractor, especially that BH. How about you?

No LS dealer is making a markup of 25% I can assure you of that. Typically it is between 8 to 13%.

Blessed, I'm ready to take delivery of mine! My experience level is already good, so no curve, just put it to work! The only thing I will have to adjust to is on a 100 degree day, tractoring in the cool, no dust, no bugs, with a cold beer and tunes going!

Back to the original topic... I don't think LS is typical. There is already 17% difference in quotes.

Ha... yeah, ain't that the truth! Was watching neighbor spread chicken litter in windy conditions (luckily the opposite direction from us) and I was instantly sold on a cab. The lack of diesel smell/smoke on these tier 4 tractors is also kind of nice, and won't take much getting used to when doing a lot of work outside the cab.

Look forward to comparing notes after our XUs are delivered, CT

Blessed... I'm stoked! Stopped at my dealer today (highest quote) and he told me the XU5065CPS shipped Friday. It should be in today. He will call me when it arrives.

He had another customer present, so I did not drop the price bomb. I'm going to wait until I preview the 5065 and then discuss it behind closed door. We shall see if he can drop the price 17% and fill the tank to match the other dealer. I'll drive it home if he can! I have bought a Koyker 220 FEL, Rhino 172 rotary cutter, and a Mahindra HD 6' offset blade in the past. That should entice him to keep me happy.

Also I looked at the P7010C again while I was there. It did not look as large this time with the XR4046C not beside it... Still tied between the two!

Should have it next week... Regardless of dealer. Could be a 5056, could be a 7010. But it will be LS!

The pricing up here is $46 000 cdn for the P7010C and $40 000 cdn for the XU-5065CPS. In canada any tractor with a 60 hp or above PTO rating is exempt from taxes. The XU is under the 60 hp cut off. So when I add the 5% federal tax and 9.75 % provincial tax my out of pocket cost for the XU-5065CPS is the same price as the P7010C. The only advantage I see for the XU is the Power shuttle. The P7010C is heavier, has a 2000 lbs higher rear hydraulic lift capacity, the loader has a 500 lbs greater lift capacity, and you get 3 hydraulic remotes out back vs 2. For the same price tag the P7010C seems to be a better deal in my area. What's your out of pocket pricing after taxes for both models?

Well. I went and looked at the XU5065CPS. Dealership was closed, but I was able to climb around on the tractor. The cab is TINY compared to the P7010C. The XU feels like a phone booth while the P feels like I'm in my living room. The 4wd is a manual T-handle thru the floor and the diff lock is a manual pedal thru the floor. The controls feel cramped as well. The power shuttle is the ONLY advantage I see aside from about 3000 lbs lighter (easier to tow).

The P7010C has almost everything located at the right hand console. I also like that the instrument cluster tilts with the steering wheel, the XU is fixed. I will visit the dealer and drive both around to compare, but I am leaning towards the P7010C. More loader capacity, more 3 point lift capacity, 3 remotes, 3 speed PTO, electric 4wd and difflock. It seems like twice the tractor for only about $3k-$4k more.

I really don't need the 72HP for 90% of my needs. But I am still cleaning up 50 acres and the extra mass should make loader work shine! I believe I can get used to the syncro shuttle for how much more the P series offers.

CT,

I was afraid that would happen after you sat in it!

When I posted those photos earlier of the XU it was the first time I had sat in it. I think the term I used was "quite a bit smaller" in difference. The old adage of tractors getting smaller when you get them home is true.

The P is a lot more tractor. Wise choice and the synchro shuttle will be fine.

If I had not sat in a P7010C first, I probably would have passed it up thinking it was too large.

I will say, apples and apples a XU5065CPS is larger, nicer and has more features than a Mahindra 6110. Had there been no P7010C on the lot to compare to, I would have gone with the XU5065CPS hands down!

If I want, I can put a buddy seat in a P7010C. All I'll need then is a buddy!

Just got a P7010C and a Howse 808 (8' twin spindle) quoted. I think that's how I'm going to roll.
