Lubrication of the main lifting bolts

I sure hope this is the end of the shim story.

"" I wonder if 14 is leaving them loose ""

I make the bolts 'snug tight'. Tight enough to prevent the bolt from rotating or loosening, but not so tight as to bend in the ears of the mount.

I do not use shims. The arm will rotate at whichever connection has the least friction. I would rather replace my bolts someday than my balls!! But, with both free to move, that prospect is very unlikely!

PS: Glad you folks like my mixture!!

Ok 14 looks like I'm in line with your thinking. One other thing. If one greases the main joints with a grease gun then I am thanking that only the bolt gets lubricated. Thus I will spray the ball of these joints as well.

After removing the bolt, spread grease inside the hole with your tool. Coat the bolt with grease, and reinstall.
Periodically, and after each washing, paint your balls with 14's Mixture!

all attachment points, have to be welded ,if the are not welded in perfect alignment, and the wear from use.these joints makeup for this condition.most large equipment have went to this system long ago.
where are you guys getting super lube now? i use to get it at lowes, but they don't have it any more.

walmart has it ...or had it been a couple of month since i got mine there and by the way i also talked to terry at pt and he told me the same as someone else here about the shimming not needed and to use superlube so i think i may try 14s mixture and remove the shims and just tighten the bolts so they dont move and left the movement happen where it will after i lube the bolt with some grease and the ball joint with the super 14 mixture /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
