Whats the welded nut for on the chute back near bottom. Same as on the yet Cat painted one?

That nut caused me concern when I converted from the hand crank (OEM) to hydraulic (also OEM). The nut wasn't used when I got the blower, so I just ignored it for the hydraulic upgrade. I have no idea what its purpose is.

So I found a used cylinder . Hooked it up but the chute will need to be adjusted to centre for the cylinder travel. Will post pics of the final project

Mine has the 'nut' as well and I have no idea what it's for either. Yours needs a nice '5 gallon finish' I'd say. I would, most certainly replace the hoses. Yours are pretty ratty and I had one of mine expire last year so I trundled down to Tractor Supply and bought 2 new ones.
