The fella in the red t shirt was yours truly. Sortuva calling card, the red t shirts, I just sorta like them. You just don't see many fine fellas in them. Mostly kids.

This is Iris doing one of her things. Note the eighteen inches of black clay and they we find caliche, aka austin chalk, aka limestone, aka this is what you got in Parker, TX.

We go down thirty inches.

I don't know if you noticed what all was on the trailer. First there's Iris of course, the one in the cute yellow top and neat black thingy over the backside.

Then there's the mixer. She's a toot. About the only thing original on her is the barrel and the frame, well, part of the frame. The rest is rigging by yours truly cause they don't make parts for her anymore.

Under the mixer is the concrete bucket that I use instead of a wheelbarrow to dispense the concrete. It's setting on the quick attach forks.

When we rolled up to the job first I unloaded Iris with her auger attachment. Once she was on the ground I quick detached the auger attachment.

I put on the forks and unloaded the concrete bucket and the mixer. The mixer goes next to the trailer. I then placed two pallets of Maximizer sacrete on the trailer. I also set up the fifty five gallon barrel and started filling it with water.

I put away the forks and reattached the auger motor. We dug the holes.

Then it was time for the concrete bucket. I set the posts. When it was all done it all went back on the trailer.

In this picture is Indana Bob. It's his son and son's neighbor that I'm helping out with putting fences around their pools. Bob is the guy who saved my lunch when the Little Beaver hydraulic auger tried to eat me. If it hadn't been for him I'd probably be sitting here talking with my fingers. And both legs would be in a cast.

You're lucky the kid was there. It looks like the tail of your trailer would have been a little high to unload Iris. I've been in the position of having a piece of equipment to rectify a problem and not be able to get it where I needed it, that's just a little frustrating. Have you recovered from getting all wound up yet?

That's quite a rig you've got there Harv! And an impressive system you set up to get the work done, must be very efficient.

I hope after that mishap you'll be treating Lucy to a nice warm bath.

One question though... What's Indiana Bob doing way down there /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

All in a days work for you Harv??..about how many hours do you consider a work day.

Harv -- I think you're supposed to hit those soft patches at a minimum speed of 50mph...

From the looks of where he was stuck it would have been impossible to unload Iris without putting her on her head. It looks like a hump where the trailer axels are and the rear of the trailer is too high in the air for the ramps to sit down.

Didn't any of you catch that sneaky dog hiding under the rear of the trailer, preventing Harv from lowering it to get Iris off? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

wroughtn_harv, I have been waiting for the safety police to jump in here but I guess they aren't going to. I know you are a professional equipment operator but I think those kids are too close to your auger in the sixth attachment you posted. It might just be the camera angle.

I saw him. I think he was just trying to give him a push to help get unstuck/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hey Harv, I have a used set of 35" supper swapers that you can have to put on Lucy. Then you wouldn't have to worry about her getting stuck./w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Evening Spencer,

At first I assumed your comment was the one with Bob pulling the dirt from around the auger. I don't let anyone near the auger if it's under power.

The kids were quite safe I assure you. First thing is in those soil conditions you cut better with a nice slow turning. It's sorta like cutting steel. Sometimes slower is a lot better.

The auger was thirty inches or so into the ground and the tractor was just above idle. We were discussing the type of rock I was cutting and the kids and the father stepped closer for a look. But I can assure you they were clear when the auger came out of the hole.

My biggest safety concern was that dog. He's older than water, deaf, blind, and everywhere, you saw him under the dovetail in the first picture. I just knew he was going to get behind the tractor and I was going to roll over him.

His owner, the guy in the picture with the boys, kept assuring me that the dog hadn't got that old by being stupid. Of course I couldn't see what being old, blind, and deaf has anything to do with stupid.
