LURKERS

I have a complete opposite opinion - joining this site has got to be the most expensive and labor intensive thing I have ever done - bunch of bad influences.

Before I joined, I just wanted a little subcut to replace my lawn tractor and complement my Crapsman chainsaw and Ram 2500, to help with basic landscaping chores on my little 3 + acres. Now I have a bunch of implements, an $800 Stihl, a welder, an 18' trailer, a humongous project list and a burning need to find 100 acres to retire to.

Today I skidded a 50+ Oak, 100 feet up a 30+ degree hill when I could have just cut it up and let it roll down into the ravine - why? - cause that what "we" TBN'ers do. My DW thinks I'm nuts. I am finishing my basement by myself - not because I don't want to pay someone, but because I am compelled to improve my non-existent carpentry skills and possibly post something useful in the future. I was a happy, ignorant, unskilled, suburbanite till I got here...

I have only contributed useful knowledge on one thread, and feel a constant pressure to be able to provide something useful, or show one of my projects that actually holds a candle to what most have already accomplished. So now I'll probably need some therapy.

<sigh> I should have stayed a lurker......:D

TBN and lurking should be studied by the CDC in my opinion. It is dangerous! I was lurking on the site for about a year when I decided I needed learn about tractors. Then I joined and it has been a daily thing I HAVE to do. That was better than ten years ago and I can't stop myself now.:eek::eek:

Yep, lurking is great. When I first found this site, the first thing I did was go back to day one and read forward on all the things folks had built for or with their tractors. When I found something that I thought I might do, I copied the photos and put them in my Folder-Things to do at the Farm. I now have about 100 items in that folder. Seems everytime I get to the farm, I find something else to do that is not on the list. So my completed items are not very many, but hopefully some day soon, I can retire and work full time on the projects- When I am not looking at TBN

I think we need a 12 step program. Where will we hold the meetings?

I was a Lurker, and it lasted for a couple years. Then I came out. This site also caused/helped me come out at other forums, also. Traktor Luv!

I don't know Eddie...I have enjoyed the merriment you cause...

John Bud,
Thanks for the Firefox tips. (Got your PM)
I made the adjustments and indeed, pages load up a lot faster.
lol ... Now I have to get used to not seeing the familiar faces and avatars.
