If you would be so kind as to send one more, g.dorst@cox.net.
If there is anything you could use let me know.
This wiring diagram is as good as gold. If you can post to site and charge one third what John Deere charges, you could pay for the domain and then some.

Joe,
I must be blind but I don't see the listing for what the recommended spark plug is for the Lx178 or the Lx188.
I see gap checking spark etc. but not what plug ??? My brother in law has the LX188 and it was given to him because the owner said it didn't work & bought a new one, It runs but doesn't have enough power & the plugs are
looking as if it's running too rich, It also knocks when under load. I first tried no ethanol high test gas (fresh from the pump) it ran some better but not very much, I pulled the plugs & they were black and looked "damp", the engine runs
smooth enough till loaded, it has Autolite 255 plugs in it I expected Denso or NGK , even Champion so I looked
for the suggested plugs in the manual you kindly sent, I don't see the specs. I'm thinking the plugs in the engine are
too cold? If you know what plugs are the specified ones for the Kawasaki I'd like to know. If it's in the manual point me to it please. Thanks again for the manual it contains allot of good info.

lx-178 & lx-188
John Deere Spark Plug - M71939 (NGK BMR6A)

NGK is the most preferred choice for Kawasaki engines

The Kawasaki engine ignition coils will on occasion fail. Operating its that are gapped too wide or shorting out seems to ruin those coils.
Is the air filter plugged or did somebody tinker with the carb adjustments?
A cold engine putting around at part load at part throttle will foul plugs. That era of Kawasaki engines used a single barrel carb on a two cylinder . They were later updated to a two barrel carb to prevent having one cylinder lean and the other cylinder too rich.

Thanks for the reply's, I have no Idea what was done to the carburetor, but I do know that it has autolite 255
plugs installed. I don't know the heritage of their installation but distrusted them,( I expected NGK or Denso etc.)
the air filter isn't plugged , as I said the mower was given (Free) to my brother in law (I should be so lucky) as doesn't work do you want it. We got it started and it runs but as noted knocks and doesn't respond well to load.
As I said the plugs are black and slightly damp looking not really fouled, I mainly wanted the suggested plug as I like to use the part the engineers intended till it's proven to be wrong for the job( a rare happening ). I'll try the NGK plugs and see what transpires.
Thanks,
Ralph

Check the plugs and see if they are long enough reach . Just because the threads are 14mm means that they are correct. There is commonly available 3/8,1/2, 3/4 and a few other odd lengths.
I would trust a non resistor Autolite before any NKG plug. My sister's motor cycle would quit running with NKG plugs. Pull the plug, crank and see spark. Install and it would refuse to start. Replace the plug with new NKG and it would run a few months and have the plug fail the same way again.
Too hot of a plug will cause detonation.

Let's see if this works, I uploaded my manual here. Paid some bucks for it a while back and it's been worth every while. If the link doesn't work, PM me your email and I'll send it direct (it's about 40 MB so too big to attach). Good luck

Hey, Your link is no longer valid. Says that the file is no longer available on this site.... could you please upload it again and let me know when it is there?

Thnks
