I have to replace the front axle in this 92 model LX188 I just bought used.
This is what happens if you never grease the spindles at all and they get frozen up.
This is the old style axle with no spindle bushings at all and uses the straight tie rod.
Here is my question. Has anyone replaced one of these with the newer style axle that uses the crooked tie rod?
Will any of the front ends fit?
Mine is the style 1A and they say to replace it with the style 1B that also uses the straight tie rod.
I have a good tie rod that is the newer style so I would like to order a 1C version (AM119108) axle.
I sure hope this comes with the 2 supports because my are shot, especially the front one...
When you turned the wheels you could see the axle loose end play in all directions.
For any that does dot know the axle is supposed to pivot up and down, but no other direction.
With the muffler off and looking back underneath this is what the front end mount looks like.
The two bolts right next to the PTO clutch are hard to get to. And these 4 flanged bolts are not metric. (5/16-18 x 3/4" grade 8.)
