Lyme Disease - US NE

   / Lyme Disease - US NE #61
I am in North West Indiana , I was cutting firewood two years back and got the deer tick bite. I never saw or felt it. With in a few days I was in bed with what I thought was the flu, Fever, shock saw bad I had to move the bed away from the wall because it was hammering on the drywall, had to change the sheets three times because of the sweat , I was hurting all over, but it passed and I was back on my feet. But I had a rash on my side that you could feel the heat coming off of at one foot away.I took a picture of it, it started getting bigger and took another picture then I went to the Dr. She Said it was a spider bite and gave me a antibiotic. The rash got bigger and I took another picture and went back to the Dr. I was sent straight to the CDC and it was Lyme. They said I could get it again and again no immunity . They said spray down with Off and yes it is not good for you but Lime is worse. They gave me a different Antibiotic and it started clearing up in four days.Rash totally gone in two weeks. I questioned the fact that my rash did not look like a Target, bulls eye. They said you can have Lyme with no rash or like mine which went from my belly button to the center of my back before we got the right medicine. I thought I would share the pictures I took. lime1 - Google Drive

The classic "target" lesion rash isn't always what Lyme rashes look like. Remember also that about a quarter or so of people infected don't have any rash. Lyme Disease Rashes and Look-alikes

| Lyme Disease | CDC
Compare your rash with the red oval plaque on trunk rash in the CDC webpage. With a history of a tick bite and living in an endemic region that rash should be considered Lyme until proven otherwise. On the other hand, if that rash appeared on someone from Utah or Idaho or other area without much Lyme, I can see why the diagnosis wasn't obvious. Indiana is kind of in between New England and the lower risk areas but Michigan and NW Indiana are pretty active Lyme areas. Glad you got diagnosed and treated. Missing the diagnosis on the first visit isn't that uncommon.
