Chuck,
You've probably got this covered, but I don't recall seeing it in the thread. Don't forget to have them weld some bucket hooks on the top of the FEL bucket. One at each end and one in the middle will be plenty. I use mine all the time for lifting and moving things about. They might charge you $50 or so per hook, but maybe not with all the money you're spending. Now's the time to doit.

Thanks Bob. I have thought about that a lot. I had originally felt like I was going to get a welder before I got my tractor and then I'd just do it myself. I have been reading some books and watching instructional videos on MIG wire-feed welding. But I don't think I'm going to be getting into welding as a hobby immediately now. I think I will ask my dealer about welding some bucket hooks on. Thanks for the reminder.

If you wake up tomorrow thinking one of those AEBI Terratrac rigs makes more sense, then fine.

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of one of these New Holland tractors.

Yanno, when you've been stuck at home for awhile because of the snow, it might make a good argument. Dear, If we had one of those tractors that you wouldn't let me have, we would have been able to go anywhere and not worry about the snow. Timing is everything.:D

I'm going to the Worlds Largest Ag Show in Tulare Calif. next month, do ya suppose that they might have some of those there? Test drive maybe?

I had been thinking that if I could have gotten that Ford, that I would be able to go out and disk our property in an afternoon, instead of 4 days, oh well, maybe something a little smaller, 140 HP?:)

Hey, maybe some pics next week? Pleeeease.;)

Give the poor guy a break. He has a few hours left. It's only been 20hrs. I know he'll come through in the fourth quarter. :)

Go Patriots.

Okay, here I am, right at 24hours. I didn't go too far. Just been thinking about what tomorrow may or may not hold. My dealer said Friday that he would probably be able to find out tomorrow from Kubota when he can get the hydraulic options delivered (3rd remote, 3rd function FEL valve, hydraulic quick coupler). If it's only gonna be a few days I'll likely leave the tractor there until all can be installed. If, however, they say something like, "Oh it'll probably be sometime around the 18th", I'll rethink the situation. I read that as meaning it'll be more like the end of the month when things are actually ready. So if that's the case I'll plan to go ahead and take delivery on the tractor and have the extras installed at the 50-hour service. I'll keep y'all posted.:D

Chuck, I have an L4400 as you know. I don't have any large areas to mow so I have no need for a huge rotary cutter but I do have 250 acres on which I maintain roads, put in food plots, clear acreage, etc. In this regard the L4400 has been more than enough tractor. And with my narrow woods roads, a bigger tractor would almost be a problem.

However, I'm right there with everyone who realizes that this can be just like anything else. Just like fast cars, big boats, giant pick-ups etc. Most of us have no need for them but we like 'em and we have fun with 'em and there is nothing wrong with that if you have the money to afford it. If you wanted an M105 to do donuts on a 1 acre lot, that's your business and if it floats your boat, more power to you. I currently have a perfectly irrational desire for a 5040 or a 7040 despite the fact that my little L4400 is more than enough for me (and the fact that there is zero budget allotment for a bigger tractor).

So heck, why not go as big as you can afford as long as the size doesn't create a problem? And in this case, it seems to me the 7040 is about perfect. You get great hp in a fairly compact and maneuverable machine. It should be able to handle round bales, and even a small baler if you ever go that route. And, if you find out you've got more machine than you need or can handle, you won't have any trouble selling it and getting most, if not all of your money back. Sounds like you've picked the right machine to me.

Found out today that the Kubota supplier does have the extra hydraulic options (3rd function, 3rd remote, quick coupler) I want in stock but since they are doing inventory they aren't shipping right now. They may resume shipping by tomorrow but who knows? Regardless, I took the plunge today!!:D Signed all the papers and made it official. Bought a Rhino Turbo120 (10') rotary cutter as well. Now I just gotta get that baby home. If the supplier is able to ship the hydraulic options tomorrow I may just tell my dealer to keep it there for a couple of more days to have everything installed. But if by tomorrow they still can't give me an idea as to when they are going to resume shipping I'll tell him to just go ahead and bring it on over. I'll keep everyone updated as to the ongoing saga of the glowplug M7040 tractor purchase.;)

MY TRACTOR WILL BE HERE AT ITS NEW HOME IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES!!!!

I am trembling with anticipation!!

Still no word from Kubota as to when they'll resume shipping. It sounds like they may have a problem with their inventory and may have to do all their inventory all over. So no telling. So my dealer said he'd just go ahead and deliver it and whenever he gets in the other hydraulic options he'll come and pick it up and install them.

EXCUSE ME, I HAVE TO GO AND PINCH MYSELF!!!

There used to be a 3 week grace period - covering TBN absenteeism when new deliveries took place, but I believed TBN has done away with that. If you don't post within 48 hours or sumpin like that, they ban you or sumpin ...

Darn, you got your tractor at the 486 post mark. I was rooting for you to reach 500.

On the other hand, congratulations. I presume you are driving around on it right now and that you have a grin bigger than this :D on your face.

Chuck, congratulations the big day came after all

It's about time, WOW I thought it took me a long time to figure my purchase out!!!! :D

Congrats...and hurry up with the pictures !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, Chuck's been MIA for 2 hours now. Shall we start a pool to see when he gets off the tractor and logs back into TBN?:D

I give him 48hrs because he probably doesn't have more than 55 gallons of diesel on his property and his wife or the OR will likely notice he's missing and find him within a couple of days. After all he only has 16 acres to hide in.
