On start up engine smokes badly, just started this. It also seems to be overfilled with oil. I know I didn't overfil it so fluids must be leaking in, its not water so must be diesel or hydrolic fluid. Any one have any Ideas of problem?

Do you know the history of the tractor?
This sounds like a injector pump / injector problem.

You might find it is your fuel pump that is leaking or your hydraulic pump. You must be getting low in the hydraulic if it is that pump.

A thing to check might be the fuel transfer pump on the right side of the engine. It's lever-operated (off the cam). It's a low-pressure diaphragm-type pump which I think could leak fuel into the crankcase if the diaphragm is bad - might even leak into the engine while the tractor is parked. A couple quarts of fuel leaking out wouldn't be especially noticeable on the tank gage but would make a difference on the crankcase dipstick. The F2803 engine is a fortress - hope this is something simple. Good luck. Dick B

I think Art nailed it - llikely the seal on the hydraulic pump is leaking intothe crankcase and overfilling it with UDT fluid.

It usually goes from higher pressure to lower pressure

Thank you very much, everyone, I will check out the things mentioned, Yes I know the history of tractor. I bought it with 400 hrs, It now has 1726hrs. I have owned it the past 7 yrs and bought it when previous owner died. He kept it in tip top shape.

If it were me, I would take a oil sample in to be tested. The information you get back will tell you what is leaking into the oil.

Any equipment dealer, truck shop even auto repair shops have the resources you need.
