M7060 Rops 50 hour service... $1100?!

I have an M7040 and negotiated the 50 hour service as part of the deal when I bought in 2011. I remember the service guy being here for close to 3 hours to finish the 50 hour service as mine had all the fluids changed. Fast forward to today I called the dealer to get a price on them doing the 600 hour service and they suggest I'm looking at around $800.00 plus the travel time for the service guy to get here and back. They charge $ 93/hr when travelling and I'm 2 hours each way so I was looking at an additional $400 just in travel. The service manager told me to wait until he checked with other owners in my area to see if we could share the travel. That worked fine as he found another service call so I'm looking at about $1000.00 for the 600 hr service. I could get it done locally cheaper but because the tractor is now 8 years old..and no issues so far.. I don't mind spending a little extra to bring them in.

Assuming your $1,000 estimate is in Canadian dollars, that is about $760 USD.
Dealer in Halifax? ......And you are where?

I use empty 5 gallon buckets to drain into, as one gets mostly filled I can tip an empty in and slide one out, fill them about 2/3rds full and they switch out easily.

All 3 of my M's 2 9000's and a 105 all hold the same quantity, just under 15 gallons (with filter changes). I use an aluminum truck fuel tank plasma cut in thirds (scrapped the center section). Handily holds 15 gallons no problem and I use one of those HF battery pumps to pump it from the tank end back into the 55 gallon drum my oil supplier leaves when they drop off a full drum. Buy my oil and hydraulic fluid in 55's and grease in 150 pound drums. Cheaper in quantity and it gets delivered too. Engine oil and hydraulic oil in the same drum. Antifreeze goes in plastic 5's. I presume they recycle the fluids but I'm not sure. Maybe they recycle it and sell it to the discount auto stores....:D

Good post and a wake up call for new owners. Get it in writing.

Frankly, it seems very expensive to me. But then my tractor "only" cost $31k. My 50 hour service was about $300. Done at the LS dealer. Hydraulic oil was not changed.

Like others, I question why the owners manual and service manual have different recommendations. We know how that will work out.

Not to stir the pot, but the 2019 7060 I just bought says the only thing to change is the oil and filter at 50 hours. Everything else is just a check over. My manual doesn’t say anything about changing the hydraulic filter until 500 hours and the hydraulic fluid not until 1000 hours.

After 13 years I sold my seasonal use house in Shelburne, NS
I love NS,...... and particularly Cape Breton!
I used the CAT ferry several times each season.
The 2019 CAT debacle just sickens me, for you, the NS taxpayer!

From other posts above, it is apparent that the dealer manual DOES show that the hydraulic fluid needs to be changed.
Kinda difficult to fault the dealer for doing what HIS manual shows as being a requirement.

For some reason the people that proofread Kubota manuals tend to miss things and change pertinent stuff between various manuals and use some (what I find) interesting terms in describing procedures so, a Dealer issued WSM could very well read differently that an owners manual and a dealer is going to stick to a WSM, always.... and.. the dealers labor rate will have a detrimental impact on the invoice price as well.

That being said, if the OP has discussed it with the dealer and is comfortable with the charges, so be it.

JHurt (post #65) obviously did not read the previous posts here on this issue.
I was responding to his post.
