M7060 Rops 50 hour service... $1100?!

Check the manual. If the dealer did more than the manual I would not pay them for those additional services. That sounds absolutely ridiculous!

Also I would threaten to call corporate and report them if they arent agreeable.

If you get some kind of a package, that can be a good deal. Beware of going to any kind of a dealer with a LIST of things to be done. It's not a case of, since it's already there, you will get a good deal on a bunch of stuff. You have to ask, how much for this and how much for that. One, it let's them know, that you are cost conscious. I am never afraid to give the impression that I don't have much money, and watch my spending. Heck, if the waitress asks if I want Gravy on my fries, my response is, how much extra does that cost?

I did something very similar. My salesman had mentioned the 50 hour service free at some point but I didn’t get it in writing. He is no longer there and I took my brand new Kioti ck3510se in at 52 hours. I never asked or verified. When I picked it up I had a bill for $470. The service manager (I had met him before) and the dealership seemed very honest and I could have been mistaken about which dealer offered what. In the end I thought it was not a bad price for a dealer service - oil, both hyd filters, drain front axle and replace with gear oil, lube all and check it out.

I will likely do my own oil change next time and the service manager even stated he probably wouldn’t see me until 400 hours if then, lending more to his credibility and my possible mistaken recollection (even sold me a Daedong filter For $10 for my next oil change).

I just received an e mail from Messicks. They list prices for various services on Kubota equipment. Might be interesting to see how they compare to other dealers.

That info is only relevant if you are in a position to have Messicks actually do the work.

all of us have had your situation one time or another. on an upbeat note:
1) before long the expense will be behind you
2) your service was done right (hopefully) by the dealer & your warranty has been safeguarded
3) most importantly, you have an outstanding tractor....the MXX60 series model is imho at the forefront of utility tractors. every time i use my M8540 i'm reminded of this
4) have a few brews, & the extra cost will disappear even quicker...:drink:

Big Bubba,
It's resolved now and I'm happy with the end result. In the end, Kubota needs to correlate what's printed in the owner's manual vs. service manual. It's different and we were both using knowledge based on the books. I should have gotten a written quote which I will do going forward. This is a long term relationship with the dealer as I bought the tractor there and will be using them for my service needs. It's all good now.

The fact that Kubota publishes two different maintenance schedules bothers me. If one is highly skeptical of their intentions, it seems like they are playing both sides of the equation here. On the customer side (owners manual), it looks favorable with simple low cost 50 hr maintenance and can be used from a Marketing standpoint against the competition. On the Dealer side (WSM) they profit from the more involved maintenance and added profit on their end. And, finally Kubota Corp. has an out to deny warranty for customers who service their own tractors using the owners manual as reference.

The lack of consistent manual content across the board leaves a lot to be desired and points to weaknesses within their organization. It's not that hard to revise controlled documents within an organization. Most companies follow lean principles and likely to use print on demand. Meaning they don't keep 1,000's of copies of a document sitting in a warehouse that need to be scraped/modified when changes occur. Let's face it, the WSM isn't even bounded and looks like it is printed when an order is placed.

So what is the proper maintenance schedule for this series tractor?

my feeling on this (only an opinion) is that the hidden agenda on K. one schedule merely the schedule for the mechanical good of the tractor. this involves the complete fluid/filter change @ 50 hrs. this may be more the recommendations in the past. this is certainly what i have done, and think the OP was wise to follow.

on the flip side, with increasing environmental concerns, the manufacturer holds off on fluids longer, & just changes the filters, etc
imho utility tractors generally work harder, longer hrs.than the compacts generally owned by the forum members here
i'd stick w/the full service
