That is one thing that I respected about NH, they continued to allow Ford employees and their families to get discounts on NH equipment even after Ford was out of the picture.

There are a lot of Kuhn rotary rakes around here now. I have been looking at the 6002 but will have to wait a little while. Kuhn has the market on rotary rakes with Claas in second (and a distant second). Good luck with whatever you choose.

Claas makes a nice round bailer, I don't have one but a friend does. They run a soft centered bale and the bailers are green (and white). Problem with Claas is that there are no dealers close by. CNH & Kubota as well as JD are well represented around here.

The bi-directional hydro tractor that NH has is a little too big for my application.

A trip is in order to the NH dealer for a quote on the TN-L. We will se how competitive Kubota is against the NH. Our local NH dealer has been itching to get me to change brands for a while now. Something else I notice is that the TN-L has a better torque rise over the 105SA or the M9000. Torque rise is everything, especially in changing conditions encountered in field work.

One thing about the M9000 that I don't like is the hood/vertical exhaust. That is one reason I don't like big Deeres either. The corner post exhaust is less intrusive in your field of view. The older Deers had a split windshield and that coupled with the exhaust makes for a busy front end.

The 5030 has a low exhaust and an unbroken field of view.

Wonder if anybody wants my soon to be new payment book??

I think you have your letters mixed up, New Holland has the TN-A series as well as the TL-A. The TL-A is what I think you are thinking of. The TL-A is a nice machine and I have run my baler behind and they are very smooth machines.

We have a few Claas dealers here as well as Kuhn and Krone so we have a good selection. Of course this area is very heavy in dairy farms so that is one reason there are so many hay equipment makes.

I don't know about the NH but I casually priced the JD 6420 with IVT last year. When you hear the cost, you better be sitting down. It'll make the Kubotas seem like a steal. You could probably get the M105 and a BX for that price. It was a beautiful machine though. If and when I win the lottery, I can see one of those parked in the pole barn at the farm.

There are a couple of problems with higher horsepower tractors and hydrostatic transmissions (IVT's).

One is inherent heat and the dissipation thereof. The other is realized PTO output because of the loss of power contributing to the transmission.

Years ago, Massey had a high horsepower hydro and they found that getting rid of the operational heat was a big problem. The hydraulic heat generated in the transmission is a problem. That's why, I think, Kubota does not offer a hydro above 52.3 horsepower.

I don't cotton to JD's even though I do have one JD implement but I didn't get it by choice rather by price. In ag tractors, I find JD to be somewhat overrated and the dealers around here are hard to deal with as a whole.

Gear drive transmissions, by their inherent design, are much more efficient at delivering power to the drive wheels even though I prefer the hydro for it's infinitely varible control. It's common accepted knowledge around here that an IVT is not acceptable for heavy tillage work. Just too much power loss and too much generated heat.

IVT trannys are not hydro's. Or at least I was always under the impression they were a variation of a gear transmission (similar to an automatic tranny on a car). I have not heard of anyone having heat problems with IVT trannys as they are used in a lot of the European tractors. But I do not know as I don't own one or worked with one yet.

I got my Kentucky Edition of FASTLINE MAGAZINE yesterday and boy does it have some good looking tractors and deals in it. I saw several M105S Kubotas in it. Below is a link to one of the M105s Kubotas. They have it priced $39,900 on their web site , but $38,000 in the FASTLINE MAGAZINE. It only has two hours. It is 4x4 and has a factory cab. I would love to have it. It even has the cast Iron rims.

Nice tractor.....no loader

The one I priced was with stamped wheels and a loader to the tune of $6600.00

Looks like my 5030 is going bye bye. I'll have to get "on the stick" now.

Kubota has just reached into the 100pto horsepower class with some new models which you should look at. They do offer a powershift type transmission in these units that is very reliable to replace the M-110 and 120 tractors which have been very good as well as shocking to many of our ag customers for performance.

So your finally upgrading that 5030. You will miss it I’m sure.

You have a truly difficult decision. I have really enjoyed my M9000. I haven’t had one thing go wrong with it yet. Mine has the 12X12 transmission which I use a lot pulling my barn cleaner through the barns. I don’t know how much it would get used out in the field but it is handy when you’re hooking up attachments. The two speed PTO would be nice. The styling of the M9000 is getting a little old but that cab is sure nice a super quiet. That’s one of the first things I liked about the Kubota was how smooth and quiet they were.

If you can justify it get the M105 everything is just a little better but I sure don’t think the M9000 will disappoint you at all.

By the way my friend had a terrible time with his M8200DTC this last year. It just wouldn’t keep running right. Finally one of the kids he had working for him confessed that they left the fill cap off the tank one day while they were haying. He had to have the tank dropped, cleaned, and rinsed. It’s working fine now.

Good Luck
Eric
