Buying Advice M9540 On The Way

Charley, meant to say I looked at a new CaseIH Farmall 95.

I meant the CaseIH 95 also, I just typed it in wrong.

The tractor has been around for quite a while and at least as late as last year was still available. It's just a basic no frills large utility and is getting passed by by other manufacturers who are adding more creature comforts and electronic controls.

The following response is from an M9540 owner on Orange Tractor Talk when I asked him about the AC and Texas heat.

"The air works great in the Texas heat, far superior to the old M series. I had all my windows tinted except front glass with what they call limo tint. Even before then it still worked great."

I hope this helps.

I wouldnt say our m7040 will freeze you out in 100deg.temps but it will keep nice in there. No tinted windows(yet)...

Thanks TripleR and foreman, thats good to know, I saw a post here about someone adding additional insulation to the roof of theirs and that it helped alot, I may do that just because I cant leave well-enough alone! The tractor should be delivered mid-week and from what you gents are saying, the A/C may be more than adequate without having to do any modifications. I just have bad memories of last summers' heat down here in South Texas where we had 40 or so days in a row over 100F. Still considering a moderate heat-blocking tint.

Keep us posted as I am kind of on the fence. My wife had her car windows tinted, but I like the visibility of my double cab truck with only the factory tent on the back windows. We are on our third summer quite comfortably with our L5030 and M8540, but I do have to keep the RPMs up.

Well yesterday was hot down here in south Louisiana. Had truck parked with motor running and outside temp was 101 degrees. Started baling around 10:30 and was running ac on three and at about noon I kicked the fan speed up to four and left it there the rest of the. Never got hot in cab was comfortable all day, tint would have helped stay cooler and lowering fan speed to maintain cool temp inside.

Thanks Zscoop for the info, think I will go ahead and have it tinted but not too dark, they have tint now that really blocks the heat w/out having to go real dark. Take er easy.
