I just traded up to the M9540. My question is this. When driving around I get this major vibration. It does not last very long and then it goes away. It almost seems like the tractor finds its resonance. This happens at different times. I cannot pinpoint the cause. All of the cab mounts are at proper torque, wheels are at correct torque and tires are at correct pressure. Trans is tight, everything checks out. I'm stumped. Is this common with the 4WD tractors, this is my first. Tractor has 5 hours on the clock.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Just a guess but take it out of 4wd unless you need it.

Sorry I should have mentioned, this happens in 2WD and 4WD. I don't think it is mechanical.

does this happen at a certain rpm range? ive noticed on my tractor some vibration if i'm running it at 1100-1200 rpm's but once i go above or below that the vibration is gone.

This does happen a lower ground speed. It feels like the cab is coming apart.

i think its just the vibration of the motor youre feeling. just bump up the throttle a little bit, or take it down some and it goes away. i'm no diesel expert but it seems like all diesel engines ive been around have their own "sweet spots" they like to run in. mine seems to hate 1000-1200 rpms, but anything above or below that it runs smooth.

It's not the engine. This thing runs as smooth as silk. This is the best way I can explain it. It feels like the rear lugs are loose. (torque is correct) One second everything is smooth, then for a few seconds very coarse vibration, then back to smooth.

It is driving me crazy.
I am going to start hay soon, I hope this is not "normal"

oh i see what you mean now i think. are you saying the rear tires are causing the vibration?

Possibly, but why would the vibration come and go. If it was the tires causing the problem, wouldn't the vibration be constant.

Mike did you try increasing your traveling RPM's? Sometimes on the bigger tractors HST can duplicate a shudder type vibration if the rpm's are too low while you traveling around the yard. Also check your hydro fluid level.

Hope your hay stays dry...:)

My M8540HDC does the same thing. It's caused by the tractors short wheel base and the large spacing between the tread bars on the tires. The shaking is felt at fairly low speeds around 1.5-2 mph.

I notice a similar vibration on pavement, only at certain travel speeds. In my case I'm pretty sure it's just the lug spacing on the tires.

Just read this thread, welcome to TBN. It sounds like the others are probably on to something. I've got the 8540 ROPS, have not noticed this but I'm not using it on hard surfaces. So, the problem is ground speed related, not engine RPM/transmission gear related and not 2wd/4wd related? Congrats on the 9540, what did you trade up from?

At what ground speed do you notice it the most. Also what is the description of your tire set up. Filled, cast, or steel , ect...

I traded up from a Landini 7880. This was actually the tractor they had on the floor at the farm machinery show in Louisville in 95. This thing had every thing you could get back then. (most of which I never used) As for the new Kubota, steel wheels filled front and rear. I notice this at lower speed (0 to 5 mph) in the field and in the driveway. I am impressed with the information on this site. This is my third Kubota. First one was a M4030SU in 91, then L2650 in 93, traded in the 4030 for the Landini in 95 (to have one to roll hay with). Speaking from experience the Landini was an overpriced and underpowered Massey. I am glad I am all orange now!! Thanks for all the help guys.

mine does that too. when i got it they had too much water in the tires and they were way too tight. That helped some but it still does it. Kinda aggrivating but the its the only thing that I can say negative about it.

I have a MX5000 mech drive 4x4 mine does the same thing. the deeler told me it is the tires. do you have AG or R4's? my AG's get out of sinc when turning then the V's cause the rumble or harmonic your feeling. On mine the harmonic increases and decreses with speed. or just goes away at certian speeds. That is what Todd said he is a very good tech. i find it mostly happens on hard surface pavment or pack, and in high range.

The vibration seems to have worked itself out?? Anyway here is a pic of the Landini we traded for the M9540. This Kubota is 10 to 1 a better piece of equipment.

Mike

Do you have any idea what caused this vibration or what fixed it? I just bought a M9540 Cab 4x4 filled Radial tires loader. I was using it today for the first time and I noticed the vibration. It has a total of 8 hours on it now.

I really can't say. I have since added additional rear weights for traction control when plowing. Also when loading hay to go out I no don't have to have one on the rear anymore. FYI with the added weight the vibration has completely stopped. The dealer said it was the NEW wearing off the tractor. (Not sure I believe that, but it has stopped.) Here is a pic of the rear weights, I was discing, sorry for the low quality phone pics.
