Thanks for all the advice guys. Funny thing is that a few of you are the reason I decided on the Mackissics in the first place, and once again you've given good advice. Turns out that I just didn't have the 122 sitting right when I connected it the first time. When I moved it to the other garage and set it down, everything was lined up right ;) I didn't realize about the bushings due to the smaller size pins on the 122. Of course after actually reading the manual that comes with the 122 it all makes sense now. Again, I wasn't crazy enough to turn it on without reading the manual, just had to move it after I unloaded it.

Unfortunately, the 122 comes with cotter pins, and from experience I have plenty of extra on hand, but I plan on picking up a handfull of lynch pins tomorrow. I've adjusted the turnbuckles after removing the rings that hold them in place, and again it was just the way I had the 122 sitting, which cause me to have to push in on one of the lower arms to attach it. But I'll go through complete setup tomorrow morning before firing it up.

I've attached a photo I took with my phone while I was moving it.

Your discharge flapper is set in quite a ways. I have mine in the outermost hole. It hangs right up against the middle pin. However, I do get a buildup of stuff just inside of it. The location yours is in might actually keep that buildup from happening.

Thanks for the info, I will keep an eye on that when I crank it up later this morning.

Have fun with it - you will be looking around your property for things to chip and shred just so you can use it. Also don't forget the hearing protection - it is loud when it is grinding up stuff.

Good point, Mike. I started mine up once without my ear muffs on. HORRIBLY LOUD! Didn't run it very long.

I've had stapedectomies in both ears. They work well now and get really rattled by shredder and chain saw noise. Ear muffs really muffle. Ear plugs just cut the noise a tad and basically just keep the really dangerous stuff from getting at the ear drums.

I just place the flapper on the outside of that middle pin and that seems to relieve build-up. Also, to the fellow with the new one, use goggles, the hopper will shoot some stuff out fast.

FINALLY GOT TO USE IT!! Took my time setting everything up, greased up everything I thought (and didn't think) needed greasing  and it worked GREAT. That shredder is incredible!! Of course it was snowing pretty badly by the time I pulled it out of the garage, so didn't get to use it all that much, but this thing is amazing!! I'm off this morning to get a circuit to make it easier to bypass the stupid JD safety, 3/16 allen head for my sockets (who doesn't need more tools), and some heavy duty hose to put around the rim of the shredder.

Thanks again for everyone's help, this forum is now one of the first things I check when I log in!!!!!

My 4010 PTO won't work with the seat up. There's a button there that one is supposed to pull up and allow the PTO to work with the seat up. I figured out how to jumper the wires and have that written up, if you're interested. It's probably the same on a 2305 if you have that button.

However, the EASIEST thing to do is to get a tension cord that'll reach to both sides of the ROPS and just position it in front of the seat. Put one end of the cord in a high hole on the ROPS and the other end in a low hole. Doing this, it's handy just to jump in the seat and to raise the unit and drive to a new location where you have more stuff to shred. Just don't forget to take the range selector out of gear, in case you or someone accidently hits a forward or reverse pedal while you're shredding.

My wire jumper (one of those clamp on things you can get at Radio Shack) quit working. I haven't bothered to try to get it reset.

The 2305 has a switch built into the seat so that you have to be sitting on it for it to work. In fact, the seat was frozen last year when it was delivered and I couldn't put it in gear until I thawed it out in front of my fire place:mad: But what I've been doing is pulling the plug out of the bottom of the seat and running a small wire between the two female disconnects in the connector. Since I'll be using this a bit more, I soldered a pair of male disconnects on the ends of the wire and they fit perfectly into the connector. When I'm done using the rear pto, I can just remove the wire and plug the connector back into the seat. Not fancy, but it works!

Meb,

I do not how u are storing it, but I have my TPH 122 on a movers dolly from Harbor Freight that I put a piece of plywood on top of it. I can just move it anywhere I want in the shed. Enjoy!
