Looks to me like you just need to level the unit out so the front isn't digging in so hard. Also those spikes don't appear to be adjustable as far as angle goes. They should be angled back slightly if you have a lot of crop residue, to minimize the "piling up" of the residue on the spikes.

Are you using this as a sort of primary tillage or are you running it over plowed/disced soil?

I am building an angled spike tooth harrow to put on the back of my field cultivators to level out the ground after tillage. It will "float" on the rear of the cultivator and have chain stops to limit travel when the unit is lifted from the ground.

It's possible that just have too much crop residue in the soil too. I wouldn't give up on it.....but instead experiment with it and see if you can make it work.

You are heading in the right direction, You might should eliminate the 3 pnt connection and simply drag it in a way with a cable,
I also home built one from some chain link fence and an old futon sofa frame and is working out very good, I have it to where I can fold it in half and lay it over the Box scrape when transporting it,
If you would like I can take some pictures and post them here?

Ditch the carry all and just drag it with a chain. A chain to each end of the pipe connected to the ends of the 3pt hitch arms would be perfect.

This is the way my 12' chain harrow works. The only real drawbacks are (1) you have to fold it up and move it with the FEL when you're done and (2) be sure the tow chains are long enough or you run the risk of entanglement on tight turns.

I think you are really close to having a working product, there. You may also need to add some weight to the chain link section and (eventually) secure it with something more durable than rope.

Having the chain run from the end of the post to the 3pt arm on each side will help with that. I did the same thing when I built a yoke and pulled from the draw bar, the rope was grabbed by the lugs on the tire, not good if you're not watching.

I think if you look you will see the common thing with all of them and that is a flexible chain at the pull point which allows the pipe to ride up a bit but still contact the ground.
If you will put in about 4 feet of pull chain and attach to each side of your pipe, then I think it will work. It will maybe work better if it comes to a V in front with a single hookup point but dual hook up point should work also. It just needs some flexibility at the pipe and not a heavy load on it.

Heck I think you may be pulling it backward. Try it with the pipe bringing up the rear and attach your pull chains directly to the spike tooth harrow. I think that will smooth things out nicely. Just have a few chain links between the harrow and the pipe so it can flex as needed.

It was starting to get dark when I quit. I think I will try adding the little bits of chain on the leading edge.

I have several different areas to harrow, so I need a method of moving from one spot to another.

Here is my recent build using some scrap I beams, chain, and links. Tossed in 6 used tires. Was really cheap to build and works great for smoothing disked fields. I pull it with my tractor some but more often with my truck. I also made similar ones with heavy angle iron. As I pull it from field to field, it also cleans and smooths the roads. sorry about the poor pictures, but it was late and my cell phone camera.
