I was lamenting to the wife the other day that I can't find a magazine that covers the various aspects of rural living that we are about to undertake. I've checked out Mother Earth News (too earthy), Organic Gardening (too garden specific) and a few others. I already get a lot of workshop type magazines such as Family Handyman, Woodsmith etc. They are OK, but don't cover the ins and outs of maintaining acreage. Then I commented to her that this forum is right on the money, particularly with the photos that show up from time to time. Trouble is, it's tough curling up in front of the fireplace with my PC. Does anyone know of a magazine that is similar in content to this board?

I too am interested in a similar Magazine. I have tried Harrowsmith in the past, but they got too "crafty" for me and ended up directed at city folk wannabes. I'd love to see a magazine that had articles on equipment, techniques, as well as some business ideas for the property. Maybe a little landscaping as well.

If sales of Compact tractors are any indication, there should be good demand for such a rag. Anybody know of any good ones out there?

Print all the topics with their variations. Take the plethora of pages, bind them up then take the printed book by the fireplace??

Try Country Journal; it comes close.

Rob,

I was looking for ag/equipment books/mags in a used bookstore the other day, and picked up a handfull of New Farm magazines. They have some articles/advertisements that I think many Tractorbynet members might find interesting.
While trying to find some info for you with a net-search, I learned that the mag is out of print ( the latest issue I have is Jan. '95 ).

But I stumbled on this list of suggested "substitute" publications that may be of interest:

Found a description of Country Journal on the web. I'll have to give it a try. So many of the others focus on independant living and living off the land. If my wife and I had to raise all of our own food, we'd starve to death! Fortunately for us, our new place is still only 10 minutes from the grocery store. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.
