That's a good group for a pistol and factory loads...at 50yds. You did mean 50yds....right? not 50 feet? The overall length of a .410 shot shell can be up to 3" (3" magnum). The over all length of the 45lc is 1.6". Seems to me, a cylinder that would accommodate both would mean the 45lc bullet would have to travel at least .5 inches before it reaches the barrel. Magnum Research indicates the barrel is cut rifled, so the head space for that colt round is like up to 1.4" as the gun is chambered for 3" shot shells. That is excessive. It does not seem to hurt the accuracy, based on your groups.
Yes 50 yds. But that was only one group out of 3 that I shot from a rest. Here is a pic of the bullet laying on the cylinder.

If all you want to dispatch are snakes, then it might be hard to justify if you already had a 38 or 357. With a gun like this you have the range of the .410 shot options. I don't have snakes to worry about, but a number of other varmits - raccoon, possum, groundhog, rabbits...

In my situation, I went with a carbine revolver rather than handgun, but for others I can see where a handgun would work better.

There is no justification when it comes to guns. Otherwise we would all own one 357 revolver one 12 gauge pump and a 30-06 bolt action. That would be my ultimate 3 guns only package. I don't need 3 tractors but I got em. I don't need 4 horses but I got em. I bet everybody could name a few things they don't need.

And as retread this please no one take this post the wrong way. I just think it's the American way now. If 2 is good 3 is better.

Well, with that picture it is clearly not the bullets coming out the case mouth from recoil.....

I always say that if 2 is good, then 3 is more gooder, then any after 3 is better, once you get into two digits, then it's much better.

With the bullet jump being what it is, I suspect that the revolver is "shaving lead" as the bullet passes from the cylinder to barrel.
This fragmented lead trapped between the cylinder and the barrel/ frame may be why the cylinder doesn't rotate like you would want. This could cause the mechanism to operate incorrectly.

You may want to try a jacketed bullet and see if this will minimize the problem. If not, it's just something you will have to live with.
Using this gun properly and safely means going with one ammo or the other. Although that makes it quite versatile, it's not something that you can load both, spin the cylinder and go from single projectile to multiple ones. I suspect you will be using the shot shells most of the time anyway.

Head over to handgunhunter magazine . com tons of good info. I'm really surprised it shoots that well with the colt case. I wouldn't complaine about that! Better than I shoot a revolver at that range
