I now have price quotes (as of 5 minutes ago) for the Mahindra 5035 w/hydro and the LS 4047 w/hydro. Both have loaders and I get my choice of tires on either. The price difference is roughly $3000, in favor of the LS. Now time for the decisions.

Oh, on top of that, I got a price quote for the LS 5020 and it's going to be the same as the Mahindra 5035. Closer comparison than the 4047 I think.

The 4047, is in a smaller class of tractor, more like the 4035 I think. The Mahindras are shorter heavier machines in both class sizes.

I second Brians advice talk to Dave's tractor, he's honest and will give you good advice. He also sells lots of Mahindras and knows them inside out so he can help steer you in the right direction.
Tom

I third his advice--Dave is my dealer (sold me my 2008 Mahindra 5525 new). A super guy:thumbsup:

I have a 10 series, 15 series, and 00 series....of the 3 the 10 series is hardest to start when cold. It does have lower gears in the gear trannies but imo it has a weaker tranny. Just my experience.

I am actually an LS fan, about the best bang for the buck and will be thousands less $$$$ than the Mahindra. But by no means are these 2 machines the same. The BIG plus for LS is the 16x16 synchro shuttle, but IMO that is about it. Yes the LS comes with 2 rear remotes, but only simple ones to my knowledge. The Mahindra 5035 is a top of the line machine. Look at the specs for both and then decide. The Mahindra is heavier, has better quality remotes that I know of along with other things. All stuff that only you can decide on. Maybe consider the HST trans for your wife. Sure would make life easier for her although the power shuttle would be my personal choice. ;)

Brian,
I forgot. Where are LS tractors made?

Korea. The 2 biggest things that I happen to like about them the most is that their manual trannys usually have few more gears than the other off brands and they are painted blue. ;)

It has been my experience, as being a dealer for 10 years, that the 10 series do start better in the cold, but they are on my lot with the original heavy oil. The Mahindra made engines(20,25,30, 35,60 series and the 7010), will start if you can get one good revolution, which is hard to get with the original oil in them, when it is below 15 degrees. I always put plug in block heaters on them when I sell them. I think if you put lighter oil in them for the winter, as Spyderlink mentioned, it makes a big difference.
The 5035 is one awsome tractor, and a good candidate for moving your round bales.

I appreciate all the kind words. Northpole, I did not get your message, unless it went to someone else here at the dealership. We recently changed servers, I hope we do not have an issue. The 5035 is a much heavier unit than the 5010 has a short wheelbase and turns tight, but also gets light in the back easier since the front axle is moved back. The 35 series is much heavier in the three-point area. The 10 series has an impressive loader. The 35 series has nice transmission options, whereas the 5010 open station has one option...so I guess that wouldn't be an option?

It depends on the application, the 5010 is a lot of tractor for the money. If the price were equal, and it isn't, I'd opt for the 5035 PST because I like the power-shuttle and the heavier duty components. But if I needed tight turning radius and high lift capacity in a lighter compact tractor, the 10 series gets the nod.

Feel free to contact me for questions. If I don't know the answers, I'll make them up.

I am confused on your statement that LS only has "simple" remotes. I am currently shopping for a tractor and am curious what differentiates simple from great remotes. I am not a hydraulics expert so any education is appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave
