There is obviously something obstructing the flow of fuel from my tank and I'm having a horrible time removing it. Would there be a solution beyond removing and cleaning the tank?

So what have you done so far to troubleshoot the problem? I guess I'm wondering why your having to remove the tank, are you sure the tank is the issue and not something else.

I let mine drain out over night (dribble at a time), then used a Rigid inspection camera (Under 100 bucks at Home Depot) to look at the bottom inside. Small bug was obstructing the fuel outlet, got it with a pair of 'grabber' tongs.

After the 2nd time, I fixed the problem with one of these inserted in the fuel outlet:

When gas level decreases to 1/4 or so, gas will reduce output flow to a dribble. If air is blown backwards into tank, regular flow is restored. I just read another 1526 owner had the identical problem I have. The parts diagram for this tank shows a screen filter in the fill neck. Mine is missing or has been pushed into the tank as the other gentleman discovered when he took the shroud and dash off to get to the top of the tank to remove the sending unit. He discovered a wasp in the bottom of the tank as well as the screen filter that should be at the top of the fill tube under the cap. If TnAndy has a 1526 and a camera can come in from the fill, I may try that. The fill has a right angle that my be hard to navigate a camera or snag tool past. Otherwise I will be pressed to duplicate the method that the other 1526 owner did to get inside the tank.

You said gas but I believe you use diesel. Since you can use air could you take a length of wire and push it up the hose and into the tank.

It’s not in the hose, it is in the gas/diesel tank. I did make a small attempt to try to hook it with a wire though the hose and pull it through.

This is identical to my issue, so waiting on his reply to questions about easiest path to top of tank to open sending unit for internal access

We had an almost brand new Vermeer trencher will an obstruction in the fuel tank. Our mechanic disconnected the fuel line right before the filter, pinched off the return line, then used compressed air to blow whatever was in the tank out with the tank still full of fuel. He did all this while smoking a cigarette!

LOL, I was going to get an unvented gas cap and drill a hole for a Schrader valve, pressurize and watch it split the seams

Don't know how this might work or how safe, but what about taking a shopvac wet/dry and adding a long tube out of plastic hose, get all sizes and length at a farm store attach it to the larger vacuum hose. You might be able to suck up the problem, might also try from fuel line end.

Have you replaced you fuel cap, just a wild thought but, I'm wondering if you might be creating a vacuum problem as no air is getting back to the tank.

all he needs to do to confirm this is open the cap when its starved. you will hear it suck air and the fuel flow will resume. its pretty loud and sometimes the tank can be sucked in as well.

I started with the simplest fix (clogged fuel cap) first, wish it was that easy!

How would bee's get pass the tank filter, let alone the fuel cap, assuming both were installed. That a lot of insects.
At least one looks like a small hornet

In reply number seven, my hero, had the exact same thing happen and I used his remedy to resolve my issues. My best postulation would be the filter is shoved into the tank, true. Then the bees and hornets are attracted to the diesel in the diesel can spout, dying and then poured into tank.

Not sure how you fuel your tractor but I use this type funnel which doesn't cause any issues with the tank filter, it doesn't go down very far and sits on top of tank opening and then I rest a 5 gallon container on the FEL arm. There like $2.00 at Fleet Farm.
