Comparison Mahindra 1626 vs. Kubota L2501 vs. Yanmar SA424 vs. Kioti CK2610

I did a comparison of the the Mahindra 1626, Kubota L2501, Yanmar SA424, and the Kioti CK2610. Overall it seems like the Kioti is the winner based on weight, lifting capacity, and PTO horsepower. Let me know if you see any mistakes! Of course, these are my local dealer prices in Central Virginia.

I do want to get a backhoe though, and the Kioti is quite expensive!

Nice spreadsheet on the different costs and capabilities. I will say the Kioti backhoe is extremely strong and heavy duty. I just used my Kioti backhoe today, to install two 40' long culverts. Started at 7am and was fully done by 3:30pm (no lunch). Quick and nimble controls. Took me awhile to become adjusted to backhoe controls and hydraulics. But once you become skilled, its incredible how useful these backhoes can be. Just make sure you get two rear remotes for your tractor. Make sure they teach you properly to connect and disconnect to the subframe.

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably be picking up the Kioti this week. I'm still going back and forth on the backhoe. It's a lot of money for a guy who is upgrading from a 1940's Ford-Ferguson. The grapple seems extremely handy for folks who have a lot of woods acres like me. The dealer wants $2000. Would I be better off getting one of those "Everything Attachment" grapples?

I'm not at familiar with the Mahindra and Yanmar, but I will note at least one spec that isn't a direct comparison on the Kioti and Kubota. The lift capacity for Kioti are listed at 1520mm pin height (approx 60in) where the Kubota is listed at the full 95in pin height. The Kubota is rated at 1431lbs at 1500mm pin height.
I couldn't find the lift capacity at full height for the Kioti, (I'm assuming you spec'd the 4030 loader).

Another thing to look at some you said you wanted a backhoe is the attachment method, I'm not a huge fan of the large subframe on the Kioti, it takes up quite a bitnif space when it's off and is a bit more difficult to mount up.

Went through this a couple years ago with a friend who was looking at a few different tractors and bought a Ck2610, its a nice machine and he likes it, but I definitely would rather have the Kubota backhoe mount.

Also while I feel the Kioti has a better loader joystick placement then the Kubota (I'm a fan of the fender mounted sticks) I felt the Kubota valve itself was much nicer/smoother to operate then the Kioti.

Just a few things to consider.

I don't know what grapple the dealer has, but so far I haven't found many grapples that are as well designed/built as the EA's for the money, at least for their Wicked grapples.

I am thinking the EA wicked grapple is about same price ($2000). And EA is probably a better design than most grapples. You could ask your dealer to just install the Kioti 3rd function kit. That gives you two hydraulic remotes in rear and one in the front. Your covered for anything, including grapples, backhoes, stump grinders, hydraulic top links etc etc. Then you can purchase these attachments as your budget allows, knowing all your hydraulic connections are fully ready.

Unless that $2000 dealer pricing includes the grapple + 3rd function + installation. That would be a steal.

I really appreciate your feedback. This is the type of information I can't really get from looking at a spec sheet. Also, I didn't realize the advertised lifting points were different between the different brands. That brings the Kubota more in line with the others. Yeah, that subframe on the Kioti backhoe will take up a lot of garage floor space that I could be using for something else!

If I could dig up small roots that'd be nice too. I like the look of the one with two separate top hooks each with their own piston. Seems like I could grab more uneven sized stuff that way. The dual lid with the longer lower tines is good if you mainly pick up larger awkward pieces, they can also hold multiple logs easier, however they aren't as good on smaller branches/brush piles (large brush piles they work fine.

The clamshell works better for smaller brush and branches, also works as a rake/root ripper better in most cases.

If I had to only chose 1 for my needs I would probably choose a clamshell as I do a lot of brush and would be willing to sacrifice the ability to carry more logs.

A 54/55-60in should work well for that size tractor, the longer lower tine models are only slightly more in the 54/55in size and slightly less in the 60in size compared to the clamshell style.

I would forget charts. Go sit on each one. Right off the bat you'll realize 2 or 3 of them have something that just doesn't fit you. It's like trying on shoes. You'll narrow it down and then you can make a list of what each one that you do like has to offer and what other features you like.
