Mahindra 1635 Air Filter Combo

I'm choking on the price of a replacement air filter combo (inner/out) for a Mahindra 1635, which is $242.00 from my dealer! Has anyone found a good source, or an OEM equivalent? I've checked several filter cross reference sites and nothing comes up. Amazon sells one but the last buyer said it didn't fit. Any help appreciated!

He has a healthy markup but both filters are about $200 total.

I guess the real question should be how can I tell when I need to replace the air filters. When I examine them they look clean and in good shape. However, the Mahindra maintenance schedule says to replace annually. I've got about 450 hours over 4 years and have never replaced them.

My tractor has now 8 years and about 560 hours and I'm still using the original air filter. I'll probably change it at 600 or 650 hours when I get the transmission oil and filters.

I do blow it often with compressed air so it's still in good shape. This may be an option for you as well. Get one of those air guns with the long nozzle and blow it out every once in a while.

Most brands actually use a Donaldson air box and filters. So you may want to inspect yours for any numbers so you can cross reference to something else. Preferably more affordable, as $200+ for two air filters is very very steep.

Wow, awful proud of them. Just for a comparison I looked up air filter prices for my JD 5055e ; genuine JD inner $30, outer $54 . Aftermarket about $30 for the two in kit. Think ptsg is on the right track

Everyone makes choices in this world. If replacement elements are unavailable for that particular filter unit, I'd be seriously considering replacing the entire cannister with something else. The parts list shows it to be a somewhat unusual design unit. I'd be looking to see how much space is available where it's mounted and what size intake tube/hose is attached to the filter can. Then start looking for something more common that will fit the space. Lots of stuff out there, this in only one source. Chances are you can buy TWO complete assemblies for the price of a single OEM element, and have something you can find replacements for at a local parts house.

For what it’s worth,
Outer filter can be cleaned with LOW pressure compressed air wand from the INSIDE. High pressure will damage the element.
After cleaning, shine phone flashlight into the filter. If you see light, filter is good.
I finally changed the outer filter after 10 years on big tractor this yearand once on smaller one in 20 years of use.
Keeping outer filter clean will preserve inner filter for a long time.
