Mahindra 3016 HST

I am considering the 3016 HST with a belly mower. I already have a swisher pull behind finish mower that I will offset and pull behind for approx 9' of grass cutting per pass.

Any comments/concerns I should have with this setup?

Anyone have comments on taking of/on belly mower?

I can't see any problems with pulling the trail mower but I was concerned about how
Mahindras belly mowers work on the compact tractors. I need the size of the 3016 for FEL
Work otherwise I liked the Max28L.

Do this SR. Go and drive it. If it is any indication of what I experienced when I tried the 3016 HST, you need to be satisfied with the speed of forward movement when in high range. The one I tried would not go over a slight incline no matter how I feathered the throttle when in high. Had to go to mid range to make it over. The high rpms of the engine along with the speed (slower) necessary to do real work with this particular tractor made me nuts. Moved right over to the 3016 gear and that does all I need it to do.

I haven't had a chance to drive the 3016, I will make sure I run up some inclines.
If that is normal for the HST's then It doesn't sound good.

I do not think its "normal" for all HST's. Too many around here love their HST's to be constrained with this type of operation. It might be that the 3016 isn't producing enough hp to motivate the over 3000# of the tractor. Not sure but I didn't like it. A 40 hp tractor or a different system might have worked better. Tractor did just fine in mid range but even the dealer stated that high range was for travel and not meant for work on this tractor and is why they have the 3616 to correlate with implements using up pto hp. Thing was just too slow for my temperament. I guess it depends how fast you want to cut the grass. You really need to try it to see if it is a fit for you and not be influenced by my assessment in the least as I do not know if you and I are wired the same.

Something is going on here which makes no sense. I have a 2615 HST L M H ranges. My 1/2 mile drive is on a gradual incline leading up to my house. Starting at the bottom, I can put my tractor in high range, at around 2o00 rpm, gradually come up to speed, and easily cruise up hill with foot pedal to the floor. My tires are loaded and I know my tractor is close to 3000 lbs. Did Mahindra do something to make the 3016 less powerful than the 2615?

I rarely use high gear, except for when I'm in a hurry to get back to the house. My property is to irregular to mow or do any chores at a high speed. I rarely use low range either. For me, M range is the sweet spot.

Hst transmissions use alot of power smaller engines work harder due to the hydros. I use my bosses tc29 NEW HOLLAND hst and it is nutless when its in high range. Mid range is ok but get the rear tires in a hole snd go to back up forget it. Put it in low range to get out. To me low horse power is better gear drive. Alot more power to the wheels.

Not a 3016, but I mow with my Max25 HST in High Gear no problem.
