First step - try (or at least look at and sit in) everything that meets your "wants" or "needs" lists on paper. Some you'll like, others you won't.
So, you're list just got smaller.
Of that list, figure out which dealers you had the best talks with, and ask around about all of them. I have my preference for tractor, but I will be purchasing my second from the dealer I like the best - the service availability (and how a dealer treats you) is worth putting up with whatever color is on the hood, and even paying a bit more up front (within reason).
There are some GREAT dealers out there, with long term reputations.
There are also a lot of so-so, and not so great dealers out there that you should avoid, regardless of the brand they sell. When you need service, you need service...be it for a part, trouble-shooting via phone, or just basic scheduled service items.
