Here's a few pictures digging out some stumps of some dead pine I took down with a chainsaw.View attachment 525700View attachment 525701View attachment 525702

I don't mind changing the gears at all. It's very similar to my Father in laws tractor with where the gears are, and changing them out. Here in Alabama we don't get near the Winters you guys do in NY :)

I borrowed a 1538 4WD for a week, or so. It worked just fine, but it's a little to compact for me. Mine will mostly be used to bush hog my land, and I have some decent size hills. The 1538 was a little scary on some parts of it. I believe the 4540 would handle it well, and I will feel a whole lot safer on it.

We dropped two pines so the house would get more sun and the plowing in the winter would be easier. We used the pallet forks to load up the trailer and haul some branches to the town wood dump. 100_0529.JPG100_0530.JPG100_0531.JPG100_0533.JPG100_0535.JPG100_0536.JPG100_0537.JPG100_0538.JPG

I cleaned the front axle and more then applied POR, the batteries are charging for the camera so no before pics. Next year before I put on the backhoe, I'll do the back axle.

Pic 0551 on top of the axle I had three small areas that rust started, in pic 0556 on both sides on the bottom there wasn't any rust. Just from traveling the road in the winter from exposure to salt, I would've thought that area might have had the most but I was wrong.

The tractor has just over 231 hours on it.

Since they put the inline restrictor in it, the temp on the 4540 is much better. Before the restrictor it just touched the green.

Just a few pics of todays work (not much) cleared some snow and then burned some branches.

Great model id highly recommend this over the other mid size models even in the Mahindra line... the 4550 is also a good choice with 8 more hp and a set of rear remotes standard

I looked back on another site at the other tractor we looked at, it was the Mahindra 2540. I'm not sure how reliable the 2540 is but the 4540 has been trouble free except for putting a restrictor in to raise the temp and a code update early on, we're happy.

I might dig one more stump and then take the backhoe off next week, it looks like the Lake Effect could kick in the second week of December near our area.....if the winds bring it north.

The trail in our area is just down the road not even a quarter of a mile, we try and go out during the week since the weekends are like the Indy 500.

Swampy. Looks like you might be able to do some swampy sled riding on the trails Tuesday afternoon. 50 and 100% chance of rain. They do race those on water. Right?

We finally took the backhoe off for the winter and then covered it up. In two different areas under the backhoe main platform we stack 4 x 4's 3 high and then 2 high under the boom and then lower it so it takes the pressure off the stabilizers and the dipper for the winter.

The 4540 4WD is what i知 leaning towards. Glad to see, it seems to be a work horse with little problems.

We have 345 hours on the 4540 without any problems, hopefully this continues. We're getting a price on a 28 x 36 detached garage so if we like the price the tractor will be inside before next winter maybe sooner.
