The 4540 went in for it's 500 hour checkup (598 on it when it went in) so I had them change all the fluids, oil and filters, everything was fine.

This winter the 4540 will be inside a new 28 x 36 garage which should be finished before the end of August....depending on the weather. The pad and blocks are done with the next step starting on Monday. garage4.JPGblocks.JPGgarage5.JPGgarage1.JPGgarage3.JPG

Anyone out there have a bolt on mechanical thumb for the 4550B backhoe? Or have a recommendation for a thumb kit that will fit the 4550B?
Mahindra is really proud of their thumb!

The limbing up I did yesterday is gone to a wood dump, we had a little over three loads that filled the utility trailer.

When I came back, I decided it was time I washed and waxed the Rhino and the tractor. What I washed and waxed on the tractor was the hood and the fenders.
I have just over 1000 hours on the 4540 without any problems, most of those hours are from plowing in the winter. The pictures don't load in order for some reason.

My plan was to remove four stumps but one is near a nice Maple tree so I'll zip that off closer to the ground, the first two were smaller and the third stump I zipped off the top some so I could plant it right back where it came from.

This will give us a small trail in that area for walking or running the four wheeler on it.

I adjusted the brakes on the 4540 today and I cleaned the battery post off. Our plow we use on the 4540 started to show some rust in a certain area so I took a wire brush on a drill and cleaned up both sides. I took some paint thinner and cleaned the areas off good which I'll start painting tomorrow with Por - 15, I'll give this side two coats and then do the same on the other side which will make it ready for snow.

I do think we'll need a new battery before winter.

I took three utility trailer loads to the wood dump today, I used the forks on the 4540 to get everything I piled up yesterday and some dead pine at the other end where the trail will come through.

The tree on picture 0771 will come down since it will never be a good tree, then more pickup of the woods floor and three more dead rotten pine will come down before I get the Rhino or tractor in there.

I was able to take two utility trailer loads of junk pine to the wood dump using the 4540 with the forks. I used the forks to raise the pine mother nature brought down so I could buck it up and then split it and bring over to the outdoor fireplace.

I removed some snow on the northeast of our house, with the sun getting stronger and March around the corner, it would just melt and follow the natural drain down into the woods.

I pushed the snow deep into the woods on the northside of the house, if it melts and then freezes it doesn't matter.

The first two pictures are after and the last two are before.

It's been a long time since this thread and I just stumbled on it. I have a 2019 4550 and want to do some snow plowing next winter. Any suggestions for a plow? What one does the author have? Thanks

The company our dealer used was Paladin, I believe ours is a series 114 but I'll check that tomorrow and get some measurements for you.

I've been digging some stumps up in different areas before the snow falls, makes plowing these areas easier.

I have a Metor drive forward blower that is a 3pt attachment. We get a lot of snow here and it works amazing.

This is the brand I have on our 4540, I'll get the model number for tomorrow night. I haven't had any problems with it yet.

I moved some snow from just off the driveway today, it will give me between 15 - 20 feet of more room if I need it.

Picture 0550 is what I started with, 0552 & 0554 is after I moved the snow to the area in picture 0553.

Since the sun was out with no wind and 15 degrees, I started my work day plowing three trails I hadn't done in about a month. After the plowing was done, I moved a bunch from one area that gets sun to another area in the woods.

Picture 0556 is the sun through some trees after I was done plowing and pizzing , 0557 is a deer wondering what in the hell is going on, 0560 is the pile of snow I started with, 0561 is after 8 or 9 loads to and area in the woods, picture 0562 and the last picture is the strong sun we had today.
