Mahindra 5155 Anyone?

Is the hydraulic fluid change part of the 50 hour service?

I admit, I don't know all that is done for the 50 hour service. Need to make sure I get everything done that is required. I'm taking it in next week.
Ok. Yes, hydro is included on first servicing.
Here’s how to make sure. Our techs have a to do list that includes everything we need to go over on a scheduled maintenance service.
Ask if your dealership has such a list and if so, ask if you can see it. As each thing is done, it is checked off. We provide the list to the customer at completion and would certainly provide this list before the job if requested.
Everything has gone up in price. Hydro fluid costs in the vicinity of 30 bucks a gallon now.
The hydraulic filter is outlandish in pricing but it is what we are provided to use by Mahindra.
I think all the tractor companies are like this.

hey fellas,

a few weeks ago I bought a new 5155 and in 8 hours of running it, the tractor performed flawlessly with a Mahindra Bush Hog. I mean it has been a beast.

today I went to run and it started the PTO just fine and I was mowing about 5 minutes and noticed it wasn't really mowing anymore, the PTO was moving at idle type speed and the Bush Hog was pretty much nonfunctioning. I stopped it, shut it down and restarted the PTO system from idle throttle and it started working again. It worked for about 10 minutes and it it did the same thing.

the plastic sheath on the Bush Hog PTO is now torn into 2 sections.

I disconnected the PTO linkage and ran it at Idle and at 2400 idle and there is little difference.

its under full warranty and the dealership has been notified.

any ideas what has happened? is there something I can try to get this working tomorrow?

just curious.
I'm not worried about the situation yet.

Thanks

Ok
We sell these and out of the 8 or so we have sold, none have come back. I did go on-site once to adjust a 4 wheel drive engagement but other than filter changes, haven’t been under these much at all.
I will relate that this tractor may have a solenoid pto plunger such as its predecessors had. If so,
It would be under the tractor toward the rear on right center. There is a little wire coming out of the solenoid.
At the tip of the solenoid, there is a plunger mechanism that you can press in. I’ve fixed some 4510’s this way. No charge as it is about a 20 seconds fix and most of that is to get under the tractor.
Don’t know if we have any of these left on the lot but I’ll check when l go back there.

51 series is does not have electrical PTO engagement, long mechanical lever activated (one of the reasons i got it)

did you check the shear pin on the mower PTO shaft (if equipped with a shear pin) or the slip clutch on the mower PTO shaft.

You read it like I did the first time, lol. His wording is confusing, somewhat. He disconnected the pto shaft, then ran it up to pto speed, and the output shaft spins the same speed at operating rpm as idle. Or that's what I got out of it after more info. I sent him here to you guys as the 5100 series pto is different than my 2555 (manual vs electric).

The part about the plastic pto sleeve being torn is concerning. I would think it was two pieces to begin with, but dunno what he has. Maybe he can send pics?

I have a 5155 and I am using a 6' County Line (Tractor Supply) rotary cutter that uses the shear pin/bolt. I can honestly say, when my bolt breaks, it's hard for me to tell right away. Slip Clutch is on the way!

sounds to me from the OP's post that the PTO is rotating and the mower is not (or is but then stops after operating at load) sounds to me like a PTO shaft shear pin or clutch, the PTO shield separating would also be a sign that the shear pin or clutch is out. could also be the PTO engagement clutch (in the tractor) but IME it would not pull the mower blades at all if out.
regardless the OP needs to clarify.
