Hi all, I have asked this question before and I thought I fixed the problem but recently the problem reappeared. Ihave a 6000 2WD and recently tractoc acts like it runing out of fuel. The engine will mis and the does not how hard I push on the gas pedal, the engine will eventually dies. I have changed out both the primary and secondary fuel filters and the problem seems to goes away for a little. I also noticed that in the fuel tank filler neck, some peeling of some kind of paint or coating inside the tank. Do you have any experience or heard about this tank problem. Thanks' in advance for the helps.

Look at the fitting at the bottom of the fuel tank. I have heard some people saying that there is a pick up tube inside the tank that sometimes gets clogged

I have a customer who I sold a 6000 4WD to, and he is a diesel mechanic and works on large trucks. He installed a standard auto parts store in line fuel filter, in the line between the fuel tank and the oem fuel filters and this has pretty much solved the problem. It is worth a try.

I had the same exact problem on my 6500. I solved my problem by removing the fuel line fitting that goes into the fuel tank. In that fitting there is a fuel "strainer" that protrudes into the tank that "pre-filters" the fuel before it ever enter the fuel line. In my case the strainer was clogged. I cleaned it and my problem was solved. A good way to check for this is to disconnect the fuel line as it goes into the main filters. If the strainer is clogged (as mine was) you will not see much fuel at all flow out of the fuel line.

Good luck,
Roger

Thanks everybody for the advices. I just returned from my property this weekend and this is what I have tried so far. I took the fuel line that goes into the filter from the tank and the fuel just barely dripped. so just like bludev said the line is clogged at the tank pickup tube. By the way, bludev, you can access the strainer without removing the tank right??? I have another problem is that the ground cable from the battery to the frame is mounted with a very flimsy screw and with time it is rusted. I plan to buy a longer cable and bolt it directly to the the engine block. So if you guys having cranking problem, please check the ground cable first before replacing the battery. Again thanks for the the helps.

supersport,

You can remove the strainer without removing the tank. Just remove the fuel-outlet/fuel-cock where it screws into the tank. The strainer sits in that fitting and will come out with the fitting ... you should have no problem ... good luck,

bludev

I removed the banjo (spelling) bolt that connected the fuel line to the tank and cleaned out the trash that caused the clog. The tractor is now up and runnings, the engine sounds alot better now. Again Thanks all.
