Buying Advice Mahindra 7030

Your right, more HP, less everything else. My research has shown that you have to go up at least 1 hp jump and sometimes even 3 hp jumps to be able to match the capability of the 7520 & 8560 machines. Boy am I glad that I paid the exorbitant price of $29k for my 7520. ;) My feeling is that the number one drawback of the 20 & 60 series tractors is the lack of gears. I get by fine with 12, but it would be nice to have a 16x16 power shuttle.

I agree with ya Brian, I have seen the same thing. I guess my problem is I don't want to spen 40 or 50 grand on a tractor. This upgrade is going to be for pulling disc mower, (another future upgrade) and pulling the baler. So in that respect some of the capabilities are not needed. I don't want a loader on it, so lift capacity is a mute point.

I think I'm just going to go slightly used, somewhere between 75 to 100 hp at the pto. The main thing I'm looking at is fuel consumption. Go too far back in age and you are looking at $24 -$32 an hour in fuel consumption at todays prices. That just doesn't add up when you are trying to sell square bales.

Ed, that's right, not much reason to do it if it costs you money in the long run. A good 5-8 year old tractor would serve you well and with what you are going to use it for there is a wide variety to choose from. ;)

Ed,
Americanclassified.com, the Bryan Texas edition, has a 7520 for sale for $14,500...yes, $14,500 with loader (936) 348-0405. I saw it in the April 7th edition. The ad says the 7520 has low hours. Come on down and buy it.
hugs, Brandi

Believe it or not Brandi the 7520 is on the bottom of the scale of what I am looking for. 65Hp at the pto is not enough to run most models of disc mower conditioners. 75 hp at the pto is about as low as I want to go.
