Mahindra loaders?

Well it could be that you have some sort of odd problem wih your loader, but I doubt it. Remember that when you lift or curl you can't apply more psi to the cylinders than the pressure relief will allow. But when the spool valve is closed and your cylinders are extended and you are going backwards (or forwards for that matter), you can apply more pressure than the system is designed to handle. When the spool valve is closed, it cannot protect the cylinder from too high a load as the pressure relief is on the other side of the spool. Plus an extended cylinder is much more prone to bend then one that is retracted. I probably did not explain that very well....so somebody feel free to help me.

I certainly don't think I could have explained it any better myself... 15 Degrees is the maximum recomended by most.

I have a 4500 with a great bend loader and have bent and or broken 4 of the upper bucket tilt cylinders. Mahindra says it is impossible to do. I say it isn't!

Last week when it happened I was backdragging a shallow creek, pulling the mud and weeds out during a dry spell, when I heard a big crack and one of the cylinders arms had bent and cracked in half.

Has this happened to anyone else??

i have a 4500 2wd and i guess i have a different loader because i only have 2 tilt cylinders one on each side, i back drag clay with my bucket at a 90 degree angle and have never had a problem. maybe i should be more carefull, i do it with the front end off the ground. but so far no problem, not even a leak.

Miami,

First of all, welcome to TBN. On your loader issue, absent a faulty cylinder (which is rare), this is normally caused by having the bucket cylinders too far extended while back dragging. I bent my first one about 20 years ago on my dad's 60HP IH. I had the bucket at a severe angle and I was backdragging like mad. It sure worked great until I bent a ram. That cost me about $250, and that was a LOT of money back then. I'm more careful now. This problem is not brand specific, it's more of an operator thing.

i think im going to be more carefull with my loader in the future, but it seems like it can handle whatever i through at it, of course this same loader goes on much bigger and more powerfull tractors.

I wonder what Fish Whisperer did to get banned.... I have gone back and looked at most of his recent posts and there was nothing disparaging in there.... I suppose they may have been deleted though....
